I got news for you guys, no matter how old you are, you will always find people who think they know more. It is part of life, and certainly part of growing up....but, IMO, don't reveal your age in trying to prove them wrong.

NO

It does matter, there are things in life kids should not be as knowledgable about and as you mature and age you will understand. That said, there are many areas where young adults can offer great advise and be a tremendous asset.

Why? I don't think it was meant to be funny, that sounds pretty spot on as a good example to me
If I wanted advice on video game technology, I am far far more likely to go to someone younger rather than older. If I wanted advice on marriage, well I would go to people who have been successful at that for a long time. Its a great example.

Thats very true. Like I said, it matters on the subject before I listen to a child. I certainly wouldnt take the advice on marriage or relationships from someone who hasnt even hit puberty.

It really is life. In my company, I don't take it personally that people don't come to me for technical advice. I could take it personally that they don't...but I think in large part it is the maturity that comes with age. You accept that you are NOT the person that should be giving advice and don't take it personally if you are not approached (or even better, redirect people if you are).
Don't be angry and spiteful if people who don't know you come up with a way to talk to you about something and assume maybe you don't know as much. They have to start somewhere. Again, LFS employees can't win
they are blamed for not helping people, and blamed when they try to start a conversation with someone, LOL. THe Nemo and Dory approach probably works for that guy much of the time.

But being snarky, rude and trying to "one up" someone else is what shows your age, IMO, and does not earn much respect I'm afraid.

LOL, I definitely can't relate!
I for one, appreciate that you back off now and then to let the rest of us answer a question right sometimes
It really makes people feel good, so that satisfaction must be your motivation ;)

kids aren't just useful on video games and kid crap. we could help with more then that, I'm on a 'computer exploiting' forum and there is a huge debate on religion, every atheist on there has said that I've had the best comments then anyone else on there. most adults don't think kids know crap about stuff, but we know more then you guys giv us credit for.
POWER TO THE KIDS

You are in turn making the same assumption about adults, and missing the point. The video game thing was an EXAMPLE of something that a younger person is far more likely to know in detail...whereas other topics, marriage was the example, would not be things kids would be experienced with, IMO.
The question of whether or not I would take or seek advice from ANYONE is based, IMO, on their experience with the topic.
Those topics based more on faith or even outright opinion may in some respects be "ageless."
But I am unlikely to come to you to ask how to motivate an employee who has 20 years experience with the company, or those who realize they may be let go soon. That is advice that would be based on previous experience, and perhaps even company policy.
Be proud of what you know, and that kids ARE respected for a particular technological edge. In the past, I don't think that was remotely true, actually....and no adult really cared anyway.

actually i have a small company atm and sell snails and freshwater fish and clams, i am also getting into selling seahorses and clownfish soon. and a while back i had people that breed things with me, so some kids know things that adults don't expect them to is what i'm saying. i could motivate someone about to be let go. just cause were kids doesn't mean we can't motivate or help someone with emotional problems.
anyway, sometimes when i get into age debates, i always laugh when i remember one thing...
right this moment there are so many kids my age hacking into adult's computers and the adults have no idea why there are 50 popups every minute

Wow, I don't find that )the hacking thing) something to brag about....finding it funny shows your age
Lack of concern for what belongs to others, their security, their privacy, etc. Wow..Wow..Wow. Pity.
Have you defended the argument or defeated it? That is the question.

wow, the fact that you took that piece of info and tried to make me look like a terrible person shows your age aswell.
me and none of my friends have ever harmed a computer or disrupted anyones privacy or files.
there is a difference between the hackers you are thinking of and us.
people fear what they don't understand, and you don't understand hacking, so you immediately say were destroying computers and invading privacy. pity -.-
