Hi guys,
I added one of those green algae sheets for my flame angel to nibble on, but about an hour after adding it the whole tank was hazy, and the skimmer was freaking out had foam coming out the top air whole, took the sheet out tank cleared up after an hour and the skimmer calmed down.
Any one have an experience like this with the algae sheets, Any good name brand that I should get for my flame angel that wont fog up the tank?

I just bought Ocean Nutrition green marine algae sheets...never had a problem and I have been using them about 3 weeks now...maybe yours are bad...take them back.

Too much? How much did you put in? I usually just tear off a small portion and put it in my aquarium. It sounds like you may have used an entire sheet.

Good inexpensive way to go. Just make sure there are no additives, sometimes they put other flavorings in there.

yep..i buy mine from the supermarket. $1.50 for 10 large sheets as opposed to the tiny container you get at the lfs for $5.99. liek spanko said, make sure there is no preservatives or seasonings.
btw- i've never had any trouble with it clouding the water, and i add it every other day.

a 1" by 2" square? That is tiny. I use at least 2 x 2, sometimes bigger and it is gone very fast. I have had a piece break off and float away, and never had it cloud water...That is why I said previously maybe what you got is no good.

Do you think because it was close to my hydor koralia 3 and return from my sump it was waving in the high flow, think the high flow was just ripping it up?

IDK I put mine in and it looks like the flag waving and I have never had it cloud up.

no. it should not cloud water. i use a piece much larger than 2 x 2. probably 4 x 4 folded over...maybe bigger. it's only dried algae.

I just noticed today that the only tank I have that I put the algae sheets in is now very cloudy. I care for it the exact same way as the other tanks I have running and they are crystal clear so it must be the algae sheets. They are ocean nutrition sheets but they are pretty old. I'm throwing them out and going to try some new ones.

buy the food grade ones in the supermarket.
I know this may sound stupid but what grocery store are you guys buying them from? I am one of those people that do not eat salads, very few greens and rarely eat healthy food so I'm a little clueless here.
