All Dead!

As you might have seen on here recently, I moved all of my stuff over to a new in-wall set-up. Things had been doing pretty good with a little spike, but all was well. I then had to go on a business trip to Portland for a long weekend. Upon my return, all I had was a cloudy stinky mess. All I can think of is that an anenome went on the move and got stuck in a powerhead, and that my system was fragile enough, it collapsed. I LOST MY WHOLE TANK! Its ALL gone. I did one massive waterchange after another trying to save something, but I lost it all. 5 years of livestock. Many of my corals had grown from tiny frags. You've seen some of my babies, plus my teardrop and other clams. I don't even know how to process this. Not only all of the mental loss, I can't even try to fathom the monetary loss. I worked shift after shift extra to help pay for things. I don't even know what to say. I'm not even sure my liverock is live anymore. Not to mention how my house smells.

You keep your chin up Claw, in this hobby things can happen at the drop of a hat. Do what you can to remove the dead and get the tank back up to stable and we can get that puppy back on the way to being stocked. I live in WA also and have a few hundred corals in my tank, you get it together and come pay me a visit and we will get the ball rolling again with a nice care package for ya.
Remember the funnest part is watching them grow!

Oh man, I am SO sorry about that. I'm sure that your rock will make it through...maybe minus a few critters...but the foundation will be there.
Look, you'll have the equipment, which is no doubt where so much of the money went. You'll have the rock. With some clean up, you'll be good to go and start again. Do you have a local reef club? Folks like that always help out with frags and stuff...probably even on the board here. Just to get you going again. Don't give up!!!!

Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. - Winston Churchill

Wow...
Are you going to start it back up?? wow...
I often wonder what I would do if I lost my tank like that...instantly...but I have never really came up with an answer for myself. I am, and I am sure we all are, incredibly sorry for your misfortune.
wow... nope, no smileys to fit this emotion...

Oh man...so sorry to hear about your losses. I dont think anyone is ever really 100% sure nothing can go wrong with any hobbies they enjoy. Unfortunately in hobbies where living creatures are involved, the risk is even higher.
I got a sponge intake part for my powerheads recently just in time for my anemone to walk around the tank, and he decided to stop right next to the intake. Had I waited 2 days later, my post would have been the same as yours. I got lucky by less than 48 hrs.
Take care, and just think that at least you can start over since the most expensive parts you already own.

I'm really sorry man.
Wish you were closer, I would definitely start fragging.
What I think I would do would be clean up the tank, do a 100% waterchange and just take a week or two off.

I feel your pain Claw. I lost my tank during the hurricanes in Florida. All you can do is keep your head up, and try again. Im sure your l/r, and sand will be alright just clean it up, water change etc.. I would also be happy to help in anyway I possibly can.

THANK YOU so much for the encouraging words. I'm honestly still in shock. I've been vacumming and cleaning and hoping things start to clear up soon. I'm sure the pet stores in town wonder why there has been a run on buckets of salt. There are only a few hermits and a rare snail that made it through. Heck, its a great way to kill Aiptaisa anyway. J/K. Thanks to all of those who offered starter packages. As soon as I'm on my feet again with a clean up crew and such, I'll be sure to hit you up. Its the only way for me to get started again. As some of you said, alot of the expense is in the equipment, and I love this hobby too much to just give up. I do have some clubs somewhat nearby, which mojoreef is a great member. Thanks again for all of the offers. I'll keep you posted. I think I still have some pics floating around out there on my camera. I got one or two of big blue while he was still in good shape. I finally found where he was hiding in the rocks and fished him out. That really stunk. In more ways than one. I hadn't given the anenome much thought. He had been in the same spot for about 2 years. The big move though probably changed water currents or light enough to encourage him to go on the move. STINKER

As they say, every cloud has it's silver lining.
And as I mentioned earlier, I'd be glad to share frags from my tank to help out; don't be shy to ask when you're ready! And that's great that Mojoreef is local to you; he's got some awesome corals.
