Won't a shallow sand bed work out better in the long run...you can clean it quickly and get to the bottom and if you must...remove all of it and add new.
I would like to no that two cause that is what I was planning on doing.
I would go with a shallow sandbed before I went with cc. YOu really shouldn't need to vaccume sand, if you have the proper cleanup crew and proper circulation within the tank then there should be no detritus buildup on the sand.
