Aluminun versus Nylon for DSP

the last time I built a DSP i used nylon screen which turned the sand black. Of course the screnn itself was a black color. Is there any reason why I can't used aluminum screening for the DSP? If Not is there any clear nylon screening I could purchase

What's a DSP?
If somehow that means a Plenum then no, you can't use Aluminum in a saltwater tank. It dissolves quickly in saltwater and will kill many types of coral and make fish unhealthy.
