There are litterally thousands of Amphipods,copepods and isopods, many are even undescovered. Remember there are adults and larval stages, you could have some type of shrimp or anything else.

I don't think anyone has a sponge filter for the intake of a skimmer, maybe under the output like I do, but not in the intake.
I've seen the pods in the skimmer as well. About twice a year I pull my entire skimmer for total maintanance, now I just pour the water from the skimmer into my refugium, so I have more adult pods to reproduce. I assume they get into the skimmer as larval pods.
