If you look at what we consider poverty in this country the answer should be unanimous. We have a better standard of living than most countries around the world. People call us spoiled Americans because people on foodstamps have more than most middle class people worldwide. Tv, car, cell phones, computers, ect. I thank God daily for being fortunate enough to be born in this country.

That is one of his pillars of his ideology. And one of the proofs he uses to support the ideology of American Exceptionalism of the United States.

Takes money to make money.....
wrong..it takes ambition and self determination. I have no college education...own two businesses that i started with my own money. no loans. I acquired my money in the metal finishing industry. In 7 years I went from low guy in the shop at minimum wage to night plant foreman make 70,000 k a year in a non union shop.
why? determination and self determination. took the money i worked hard for and started my business with my wife using some money from her 401k.

That's what gets me about the occupy movement. If you have two months to lie in your own filth, you got two months to find a job-any job. Complaining about people who are, at least, working makes no sense. You hate that you aren't rich? Go to college, study business, get a job on Wall Street and get dirty rich like them. Sure you'll have to live in a roach-infested tenement while you work your way up, but if you put as much time and determination in that as you do protesting, you will make it.

You're not looking at it from their perspective.
Their parents have coddled them from age 0 to age 24 giving them everything they want. Mommy & daddy ran out of money and then told them they need to go see the world on their own now. These people are really really angry that you & I are not picking up where their parents left off. We are not giving them everything they "need" wrapped in a bow like we are supposed to. The Wall Street businesses are supposed to call them up and beg them to come sit in an office so they can shower them with money.

Actually, Mommy and Daddy didn't run out of money - it was "disappeared" by the Wall Street manipulators who converted their retirement accounts and investments into smoke. But you are right, there is a strong sense of entitlement in many of today's young.

Do tell, My IRA's and the wife's 401K are worth more today than they were in 07. Even the stuff I don't actively manage have came back to about their highs. People buying into get rich overnight schemes are mainly the ones who got hurt.

True enough, and I'm doing well, too, if you can ignore the $350,000 decline in the value of my house, money that was "disappeared" by the greed of an unregulated few. I'm sure that will come back too, but I'm 67, so I don't have the several decades it will probably take to recover that large loss in my retirement plan. And I wasn't involved in any "get rich quick" schemes.

The US as well.
I started my business with a $10,000 loan, that my business partner ran off with on day 3. It was sink or swim time and I chose to swim.
I agree whole heartedly with Darth. Technically, my business required no up front money. A cushion would have been nice. I started with a computer and a fax machine.
In hindsight, I have had more ambition than common sense to get to where I am, but I made it, at the top of my game.
I don't think I could have made the economic transformation that I have as a single mom anywhere else in the world.

People looking t houses as savings accounts is a huge part of the reason we are here. Used to be people were content to try to have their mortgage paid off before they retired. Now days they tale out equity loans for trips or whatever. The collapse wasn't because of lack of regulations, it's because of the push for home ownership by the Clinton and Bush administrations. Giving people loans when they weren't credit worthy was bad enough but now they are basically letting them off the hook for the loan amount if they walk away.
I got lucky in the housing market. We sold out of Montana in 06 to move the Denver which the housing market had already taken a big hit. Only kept the first house here 3 years and took a real world loss of 12% or so before buying the place we are in now which has a ton of upside potential. I hope to be able to move out of the big city someday and If I make enough to cover moving expenses and realtor fees I'll be happy.

Unregulated? Come on that is just vague, unsubstantiated language used to fool the ignorant and stoke a desired political outcome...

Tell me about Unregulated the Industry I was in OTR trucking for Years has asked for 2 simple things when an accident occurs to prevent Frivolus Lawsuits Drug and Alchohal testing for all parties in the accident and Safe and Secrue Parking at Facilaites when drivers run out of hours when the Shipper or Receiver causes the Driver of the truck to runo over his 14 hour clock. Guess what the DOT hits us with in multiple states a Fatuige Checklist that if we have a TV in our trucks we can be placed out of Service because some Rookie Officer THINKS with NO PROOF the DRIVER MIGHT BE TIRED.
This accident near me is the Perfect reason why Mandatory Drug testing is needed in all Commerical Vechile Accidents. About 3 months ago a 22 Year old woman had her sister and her Daughter in her car she rear ended another car and spun it out then contined on and SLAMMED INTO a SEMI after running a Stop Sign. She was killed instantly her Sister survived the accident but died the next day her sister was 6 months pregnant and the baby did not make it either. The daughter was the only one that lived in that car. Well the Inquest into that accident was held this week. The 22 woman that caused all the chaos had just smoked a JOINT and her TCH level was high enough to cause impairment. She was high on Weed when the accident happened but did that stop her FAMILY before this came out from SUEING THE TRUCKER HIS COMPANY AND THE OTHER DRIVER. HELL FREAKING NO. She is the reason this whole accident happened and yet they are hoping to hit the gravy train.
