Save your time and save the anemone by giving it back to the LFS before your changing the title to "How to kill an anemone in my tank" ...with plain aquarium lights it won't live.

I do have to agree with everyone on that this will die a very slow death.
TRUST me my frst attempt at a SW tank was under regular lights because the LFS said they would fine for any corals.** that was before I know better now.** anemones are delicate and live a long long long time if they have the right conditions. The problem * no offense you are not supplying the proper conditions and the aneomone will slowly die. The need good light to live long term. please do not make experiments with creatures that need high light beleive it or not its been done and very few have been sucessful at it.
at the same ime if you get it to live it will not grow and flourish like it would under proper conditions.

[doubt it...It is titled "Will an Anemone Survive in my Tank".

should be titled "How long will it take this Anemone to die!!"

Emm... umm... hmm... well, thanks for the advice, all...
The guy at our LFS said it might work, and we could try it... are you saying was he wrong?

I doubt he is trying to commit suicide although maybe he doesn't see the point in moving if he isn't going to get enough light anyway.

They will tell you anything to make a buck. Return it ASAP or your tank will bomb and kill everything.
I can say I made this mistake and regretted it.

How long does he have to live before I take him back? (Schedules... you know how it is...)

I had one for a week before it died. I would go when I got my first chance. Let them know they are giving false information and they shouldnt sell these animals to people without the correct lighting.
I love LFS

Sorry, I am not sure if they will live under T5 either unless at the very top of the tank.
You may need the MH for them to live at all.
I am not going to try them again until I can get the right lights. Sad to because I love them.

Well, quite honestly, I am seriously considering selling out at the moment. I was buying things to try to up the value of my setup... or, if I decide to keep it, to make it nicer. I guess I failed.

We all make mistakes, I know I did I trusted my LFS, and cycled with fish and then bought a anemone
.
Poor guys.

Well, on to the next question. How do I get him out? I know I am supposed to be careful about his foot... but can I get a detailed suggestion on what to do?]

Use some gloves and gently pull him out.
Be careful though they do sting and it sux, trust me I had a BTA sting me and it was sore for 4 days.
If you cant get him out that way you may need to take his rock out and put him into a bucket with the tank water and see if you cant coax him out in there.
They stick in there really well though, so be very careful.

Its ok its better for you and him that you are doing this. Just save your $$$ until you can get the correct lights and then youll be ok! LOL

Be happy you can save him and your fish!
