Let us know what you get and if you can I would recommend QT for at least 3 weeks as they can carry all kinds of diseases and you dont want to kill you clowns or other fish k?

YAY at least you wont be short an animal.

I always hate taking things from my animals but hey it was that or the anemone would have ruined your water quality and killed the fish in 24 hours.

Oh well get him a coral or something to host and he will be fine poor guy! LOL

You may need the MH for them to live at all.
I am not going to try them again until I can get the right lights. Sad to because I love them.

I use t-5 lighting - 4x54 with two actinic and two super daylight - my two BTAs are doing well.
The only thing that was a problem was that in my research I did not see that you should cover your powerheads - so I have one BTA was some very short tentacles! But he survived.
I was not sure they would live in my light - they were dying at my LFS. The owner had them in a small plastic box without any light. It was very sad, and for some reason I felt oblilgated to try and bring them back. They were small and shriveled, but after a day under the light they opened up and look great. I just hope my clowns will end up hanging out in them, because then it would be even more exciting.

Ok, all I am back. Boy, it sure feels good to know that I did the right thing.
I didn't get a fish, but I got a soft coral... a Torch Coral, I believe it is called. We got it to replace the frogspawn that died when the tank-sitter added tap water instead of RO water a while back.

dude I dont mean to sound mean or rude but what are you doing you dont have the right lights for these types of corals. Please before you impulse buy anything check them out first and ask people that arent out for your money.
the frog will do alright for alittle while but it wont last long term for the same reasons as the anemone they need light to live.
I hope you understand I am not trying to be mean though. It just they need light to live and if the light isnt up to par your tank is being setup to fail.
sorry if this sounds harsh its really not ment to be.
you did do good on taking the anemone back though it was in its best interest. but you ended up with another coral that doesnt need as much light but more than you have if that makes sense.

Good to know I am getting that same type of setup of lights and would say my tank is only 24 inches high so I think I may be able to get one....
Glad it worked for you.
Clown Good to hear you were able to get something to replace the one that left you.
LMAO I made the mistake of letting a friend come and feed the fish, well they overfed it and I came back to a completely green tank
!
Not going to do that again I think I may just get a autofeeder to feed once every other day! LMAO

Impulse? Not the right lights? There have been thriving, growing, and splitting corals under these lights for years!
There is a sort of magnifier under the lights that makes the light come close to matching the light of PCs.
The frogspawn that was there before was there for 5 years or so...
I don't get it...

they can do OK under regular lights but they dont thrive just because a coral is growing doesnt make it the right conditions. the growth of corals is very quick I have seen these corals under the lights you refer to but they loose color and dark and dont look as good or grow as much under brighter lights. It also takes a very very very long time for these corals to dieoff from starvation from light. Like I said i dont mean to be rude or mean about this but I have seen it first hand you would not beleive the difference in corals when the right light is used,
I thought all my corals under that type of light was healthy and doing great when I bumped the light up the reaction of the corals was tremendous and outrageous I couldnt beleive how much better they looked and how much faster they were growing noticeable growth on a daily basis almost.

let me show you a couple of pics right quick.
a colt is considered a lower light demanding coral. I had a small frag under reg lights for almost 4 months and this is what it looked like the second picture is after being under brighter lighting for about 5 months.
