Well the teacher and student were both stupid but I have to say that I would probably have done it too if someone dared me. I was never one to back down from a dare! Some days I wonder how I am still on this Earth.

Hard to pick the Darwin Award winner from this story! Multiple possibilities!!!

Teen whose heart stopped after attaching electrified clamp to his nipple sues teacher, school

Teenage pranks can be shockingly painful.
The family of a teen whose heart stopped after clamping an electrical cord to his nipple in shop class is suing the school and the teacher, saying the boy suffered brain damage.
They also say the teacher egged the boy to shock himself by enticing him with a Mountain Dew.
Last March, Kyle Dubois, 18, put an alligator clamp on one of his nipples, with a classmate placing the clamp on his other nipple, while a third classmate plugged the cord into the wall.(Oh look three possibilities here)
For three seconds, Dubois endured the electrical shock, dropping him to the floor and stopping his heart, the New Hampshire Union Leader reported.
The teacher, Thomas Kelley, said he was talking with another student when Dubois shocked himself.
"I was talking up my fantasy baseball team with one student and the next thing I know there was a commotion," Kelley said. "I look and I hear an ‘Ouch.' I look and there's Kyle going to the ground."(Ha, another possible)
Dubois parents say Kelley failed to warn the class about the dangers of playing with the electrical cords. (oops..two more here)
The teacher denied he offered up a soda to Dubois and no charges were filed against him.
In the lawsuit, Dubois is described as suffering from "short-term memory loss" and "brain damage."(Brain damage before the shock IMO)

The suit also alleges Kelley frequently left his students alone "for up to 20 minutes at a time."
Kelley resigned from his job in April.

So let me get this straight. The basis of the families suite is the shop teacher should have told their 18 year old son playing with electricity is dangerous???

I have no doubt the kid is brain damaged. I think it's a genetic condition he inherited from his parents.

With that logic, the entire school year would be simply teachers hammering out warnings instead of an education, some things really are common sense and really shouldn't have to be explained in detail.

Wow it's a shame what this world has come to. I believe the teacher should not be a fault at all. I mean sure he should have been looking over the class but it wasn't his decision to put clamps on this kids nipples.

LOL...I know....this class was full of 18 year olds....if they need to be supervised so as not to do something AS DUMB as that...then they are all in BIG trouble

In our high school we had a teacher student fantasy baseball team. We held a draft in the teacher's lounge and everything. I think absolutely, that it helped in the class room. The teacher had no problems in the class room. And was very effective in communicating the content.

My point is, would this be your answer when the board said "What the hell were you doing while this was going on?"

The teacher is not the only one who is responsible about this case, the 3 students too. 1st, Kyle Dubois, 2nd, the one who attached the clamp on his other nipple and 3rd, the one who plugged it. Kyle Dubois is already 18, just like what others have said, even a 7-year old child knows that playing electricity is dangerous.

So then how is the teacher responsible at all? It's a school, not a day care center.

Well, following mom and dad's line of logic, perhaps they should sue the power plant that generated that dangerous energy and the electrician that installed the outlet without a GFI, and well, how about the moron who made those alligator clamps............everyone except their son, the missing link.

I could maybe almost see it if he clamped his fingers, but his nipples?
