Granted, it's the teacher's word (and he says he didn't do/say that) against the students, and we all know how that will go... I guess you could also say that it didn't just take them 5 seconds to shock himself. Take his shirt off, get the wires setup, etc, and a teacher probably should have noticed something in that time period. Maybe because it was shop class (which I am absolutely floored they still have in NY), they were off by themselves out of view, dunno the full story.
In the end, what sounds like a cool teacher is out of his job (aren't too many of them left), and another nail in the coffin for dwindling support for shop class, because of an idiot that should have knew better in the first place...
