I'm not sure either. The one I got didn't last two weeks. Did yours have enough to eat? The one I had was a voracious eater. I got a tuxedo urchin to replace mine and I love it. I've had it for several months now.

I would fix the problem then I would let it grow. When it gets long it will be eaiser to grab and pull out of there. You will then be taking out the nutrients with it.
I think some get really upset over the fact that thier reef is not prestine. I think sometimes depending on the setup it will just happen and it will run it's course. That is if in fact you know the source and you deal with it. When it runs out of food it will go away. This whole daily plucking thing I don't get. Let it grow and then you remove more eaiser.
