Another ID post

I received a rock of yumas and while in QT, I noticed all types of stuff starting to grow on the rock. I removed the yumas and placed them in a new QT so I could see what all was on the rock. I contacted the person I purchased it from and found out the yumas were not aquacultured. So now I am trying to figure out what the heck the little purple thing with polyps is

- monti? Anyone seen this particular coral? (first pic is larger of the overall rock, second pic is close up). Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Believe it or not it's a Snail. A Vermitid Snail.

Im not sure hes talking about the tubular thing on the left of the green and red polyps. I think hes talking about the green and red polyps themselves, which look like a type of blasto. Although I maybe wayy off.

It could be a blasto or a montipora, lets hope it gets a little bigger and we'll know for sure.

OK in the big picture the Vermitid was centered and I didn't even see the Monti. It looks like some type of encrusting Montipora, I can wait for it to grow out to make sure. Very nice looking hitchhiker!

The orange centers in the polyps look SWEET if it retains that color

LMAO - I will keep that in mind!!!
But I think I am going to have to cut it off the rock and move to a tank with higher lighting before it really starts to grow....grrrr .... decisions decisions

Not too sure but I think the xenia/anethielia to the right of the picture would hurt it. Might wanna take a hacksaw to it and cut off the portion the monti is on, and then just move it up

Yep - when I see those cloves getting too close to it, I pull them off. Funny thing is, the purple thing showed up before the cloves even made their appearance.

Hmmmm....that is one I don't have - I didn't realize the center of their polyps is orange.

They arent. The only resemblance we can see is the green polyp, but yours doesnt have all green polyps. And without at least a little more grow out, we cant even guess the species.

Thanks - I am going to try and move it to low MH lighting next weekend and see if I can great the growth rate to pick up. Will repost once it gets bigger.
