I've been waiting to get this tank for forever but I'm finally ordering it tommorow!!

It's been annoying to search for the best price, to make a long story short I waited untill I got a job at one of my lfss to get the best price forthis thing and when I finallyyyy was able to ask my boss about it he said he couldn't beat the online price I gave him

I'm going to be ordering the nanocube and stand tmrw as well as the r2 dual extreme led lights to bring out some of my corals color. Debating on whether I should get the ato system or not though... What do you guys think?
ROUGH stocklist:
Pj cardinal
Red and purple firefish
Blue dot jawfish
Pair of true percs
Court jester or rainsford goby
Royal gramma

If you plan on SPS, the key is stability. That being said, an ato system is a great investment. If this is the 28 gallon I'm thinking of, that fish stocklist is a too much. I would stick to 3-4 fishes, so I would take out the royal gramma, the firefishes, and the cardinal

if this is the jbj nc 28j hqi, you might consider a different stand. i have this tank and i bought one of the stands for it and it was able to hold the tank just fine but you could make it wobble very easy with one finger. i threw the stand away and built my own very overkill but in the event of an earthquake or something bumping into it hard like a kid or something i know for sure my stand wont crumble.
also an ato is no doubt a good investment i have one. but i only bought it cause i went out of town for thanksgiving so i needed one. the evap on these tanks is about a glass a water a day. at least mine is.
depending on your finances id skip the ato for now and spring for a chiller. more then likley you will need one of these as the this tank tends to get hot from the mh being so close to the water and it being in a closed hood. it was the first thing i bought after the tank.
as far as fish you have a big list, i personally have 5 with some corals, tanks been up for a year and been stable. as much as i would like to have more fish i for sure wouldnt add more.
1 white stripe maroon
1 sixline
1 diamond goby
1 yellowhead jawfish
1 royal gramma

Yea I knew it was a few too many but I just put ROUGH because I never stick to my original plan too LOL, thank you though. What would be a good ato for my tank?

I was a little worried about the stand too, I couldn't tell how stable it was really but when I ordered it, it was like 100 bucks cheaper to get the stand too so why not LOL %% and I think the tank might be going in a corner so I can possibly "catty(?)" corner it so it's 2 edges are against the wall. Or I was going to take some L brackets you use to hold up shelves and turn them around to attatch the stand to the wall. Idk it's hard to explain I'll get pics up ltr haha. If worst comes to worst I'll just make one too I guess
thanks for the heads up though I was wondering about that.
I preety much counted on getting a chiller eventually but I'll see how long I can get by with fans for first.
Your sixline or maroon aren't little terrors in that tank? Haha

I just got my JBJ 28 gallon HQI nanocube about 3 months ago. I too got the stand and found it to be lacking. I plan to build my own to match the rest of the furniture I have built in my family room. The stand is far too small for all the equiptment you will accumulate.

That's what I was worried about urghhh. I think I'm just going to end up attatching the stand to the tank and the stand to the wall but I guess we'll jus wait and see lol.
Thanks guys!
Any good ato units and pumps?

I am using the JBJ auto topoff. You will have to buy magnets to attach the floats to and use them to mount the float sensors. The brackets supplied with the unit are too small and wont fit over the edge of the nanocube. The sucktion cups scared me so I went with the magnets for a more secure fit. This also allows for more of a custom water level adjustment. The unit has worked very well so far and has been very consistent. (knock on wood)

you wont have to worry about attaching the tank to the stand, it will be really heavy so wont move on its own, the stand is the only thing you will want to worry about.
as kpclown said, the float valve that goes into your tank wont fit right due to a little lip that goes around the inside back rim of the tank. however you can take a box cutter or sturdy pocket knife or even a dremmel and just cut the lip off. this is what i did and the float valve fits like it should on the supplied brackets. later on if you decide to get a new skimmer like the sapphire one you will need to do this mod anyways. best to do it now before you put anything in the tank.
funny you ask how the sixline and maroon clown are getting along. they were getting along great and everything was mellow, but about 2 weeks ago i put a gbta in. since the addition of the gbta my marron clown loves it and swimms in it all day long but as a side effect has made him a lot more aggressive, now when ever the sixline comes close or around him and his nem the clown will chase his arse around. so far nothing serious so they should be ok. the sixline is no chump though after a couple seconds of being chased he turns around and gets face to face with the clown swimming sideways and stuff letting him know whats up hahah
you will have to buy a pump for the ato.

Yea I guess the maroon got a little protective over his home haha.
I know its really heavy but I think I rather be safe than sorry but well see. Idk if its even possible to attach the tank to the stand without altering the cube but I'll work it all out when I get it I guess haha thank you.
As far as the ato goes what pump do you recommend?

i upgraded one of the stock pumps to a maxijet 1200 so i had one of the stock accella pumps laying around, its more then enough to pump the water up to the tank.

I was thinking about doing that with my old powerhead but wasn't too sure if it would work. I thought I would need too big of a tube so it wouldn't work but thanks :)
I was also thinking of the 1200 upgrade. How do you like it?

• About $20.00
Maxi-jet 900
• V/Hz: 120V/60Hz
• Wattage: 8.5W
• Max Flow: 230gph
• Max Pumping Height: 46"
• Dimensions: 3.5" L x 2" W x 3.25" H
• About $30.00
Rio 6HF
• V/Hz: 120V/60Hz
• Wattage: 15W
• Max Flow: 350gph
• Max Pumping Height: 72"
• Dimensions: 3.9" L x 2" W x 2.5" H
• About $30.00
Rio 8HF
• V/Hz: 120V/60Hz
• Wattage: 30W

also i cant decide which leds to get. what dou you think???
"Description
Main Features
IceCap LED Moonlight Retro
These LED Moonlight tubes have the same look of a standard T5 tube, but they are powered by a low voltage transformer, not a fluorescent ballast. The T5 form provides a very even spread of the light over the entire aquarium. Encasing the LED's inside a T5-style tube protects them and their circuit boards from the harsh, salty, humid environment that is your normal saltwater aquarium. The IceCap LED Moonlight arrays also have an aluminum heat sink on the backside of the tube to dissipate what little heat they generate. These two unique features to our LED arrays protect them from the elements (salt, humidity, and heat) that destroyed other brands of LED’s.
Wait till you see what they do for your corals!
LED’s boast low energy consumption and a long life span, but we know the reason you'll want them is what they will do to the appearance of the corals. They are designed to excite the green fluorescing proteins in corals. They particularly bring out yellows, oranges, reds, and greens. If you think your corals look good under actinics, you haven't seen anything yet! Mushrooms, zoanthids, Ricordea, and most any fleshly large polyp stony corals look amazing under the LED's. This immediate and stunning glow is guaranteed to wow anyone who views your tank during the Twilight hours and they will continue to cause fluorescence when all the lights are on. The IceCap LED Moonlight Retrofits ship with mounting clips to secure the LED tubes to a canopy, commercial hood or existing fixture. The weight should not be an issue because the 2-foot unit is only 4 oz. Power connection to the LED array is a power tail with a quick connect to a low voltage power supply"
I would get 2, 21 inch ones at 54.99
or

which comes with 2, 4 led bulbs for 45?
