I just attended the Third Annual Bob White Invitational in Costa Mesa. http://www.bohiteinvitational.com/index.html
youtube video...http://www.bohiteinvitational.com/youtube.html
My daughter took first place in her division for kata. I'm so proud of her it's spilling over into fish websites. For those who are into Chuck Norris, Bob White was on the IKKA team that defeated the Norris team taking 1st Place at the International Karate Championships remaining undefeated in 1973 and 1974. It was cool to meet the legend. I'll post a pic of Grandmaster White and my daughter in a few minutes. Wow. I am so proud.

Now that is cool! I was into Martial Arts many years ago. Not sure why I stopped.
I guess I'm living my dream through hers.
Here she is sizing up the competition before sparring. (white headgear/black gloves) There were some VERY talented kids there.

Cool. If you browse Bob's website there are some interesting old pics to look at. One includes Ed Parker and good ole Elvis. (for those who don't know, Ed trained Bob and Elvis)

A few months ago Sierra competed at the USKA California State Championships. She placed third in two events and secured a spot at the Nationals. March 30 we attended the USKA National Championship Tournament in Albuquerque. She pulled off a first place
in her division for kata (forms) and third place in kumite (sparring) so I suppose we will be visiting New Orleans in August for the USKA World Championship Tournament.
Bill Wallace is a USKA Hall of Fame member. Hopefully he will be there. It would be super cool to meet him and get a few pics. Did I mention how proud I am?

I work with my daughter off and on teaching her things . She is only 4 so shes not ready for classes yet . Maybe another year and I will check into some kind of classes . I am thinking judo , Quiet a few members of my family studied judo when they were little . I have studied a few kinds off and on , mainly kung fu and akkido .
Glad you got your girl on a path of focus and training early .
I wish your daughter all the best in her martial arts tournment

Martial arts are great, I trained in Muay Tai, JJJ, BJJ, Kempo...trained with Carlson Gracie before he passed, had the pleasure of training with Marc Coleman@ Hammerhouse, Jeremy Horn @MFS. I really was mostly a striker and got taken down pretty easily, although I am pretty lucky to say i got my rear kicked by Dan Henderson an olympic wrestler, and current UFC superstar!

Thanks guys.
She is studying Keichu-do which is a blend of Judo, Jiu Jitsu, Kung Fu, Karate and Cajun fist fighting. It's hard to win these days with a single style. Everyone seems to be blending styles to become more effective against any type of attack. Here's what she's learning:

Just the kinda thing every kid on the playground should know . I guess if its good enough for the Israeli comandos then its good enough for the school yards .
God knows theres perobebly just as many armed fundamentalists on the teater totter as in the west banks.
But on a side note . I would love to train in Krav Maga .

You can....there are several Gracie's teaching...granted you'll not have the chance to with carlson as he is in the great bjj heaven, but in all honesty gracie jj is not all that great IMO, as other people have expanded on it. If you are serious about it, look into some of the other great camps out there.
