There is a place that just moved to the west end on superior street. Don't remember the name, but it's across from the furniture shop. A little place on the north side of the street. He just moved in so his tanks aren't all done yet.
Then World of Fish up on HWY 53 actually in hermantown. Not the same place as the ones in the cities, just the same name. Some things are overpriced, but the fish are clean so far that I have seen. If you go you have to ask to see the reef tanks, they are in the basement. Just found that out myself 2 months ago after many trips there.
I've been to that one in the superior mall too. I was hoping you might've known of another place to go shopping also.

they have reefs set ups in the basement <img src="graemlins//eek.gif" border="0" alt="[eek]" /> I gone there many times myself, ocassionally buy somethings but like you said he is high priced and the tanks he does have on the main floor is always scarcely populated with corals if at all, funny he never said anything, i'll have to check out this place on Superior ST, Thanx for the info.

For you Minnesota people... I am working on getting some venture captial funding right now to start up my business in White Bear Lake right off I-694 and Hwy 61. You can see the offices from the freeway. We will be offering a delivery and setup service to everyone within 800 miles.
Not sure if I will tap into reefs... but if the demand is high enough I may definately give it a shot. Give me some feedback and let me know what you guys are looking for in a local supplier.

Any store here that would have a good fish, coral and invert selection would do good. There are alot of cheap places with limited selection, and a few (world of fish) that have a great good selection with OUTRAGEOUS prices. I have no problem driving an within an hours distance to look at fish, but only if the prices and selection are good.
I'm not over in WBL very much but would be if you had a good quality store.
I started with freshwater fish, then went strictly with Discus for years. I now only do saltwater fish. People said that saltwater fish were so hard, but I don't think so. The upkeep of discus was way more intensive.

I also go to the place in Har mar Mall. Did you know that on Mondays they have 25% off all stock?!?! I agree with Spankr, World of Fish has high prices and so does Wet World (I also found them very rude) Something Fishy has good deals on crabs and snails. Amazing Fish has good stock of inverts and they sell the live Marine Phytoplankton. There is also a place called Forest Lake Pets. They have quite a good variety of inverts. I have also been to Fish N Friends ( its only about ten minutes from my apartment)they seem to have good deals. I got a skilter 400 there for 40 bucks.

What's this place in the Har Mar mall? Is that right off snelling and 36?
Fish n Friends has good prices, but be careful. Their tanks are filled with ick right now, and have been for a while. They have a 8" clown trigger in there for $65! I should have bought him when he came in, now he is starting to get cloudy skin.
Is forest lake pets still open, I thought they were going out of business? If they are open, do they have a good selection and prices.

I bought my 125 and 75, at forest lake, and the 46 bowfront at the premier pets, most of the fish came from Harmar, or Roseville *****. Caution, All the fish from ***** have died., I know have a 10 gallon quarenteen for all new fish. Live rock, I got from Pet Wharehouse ( live aquaria). it was purple rock, But the best was from TB SAltwater in Tampa, ( WoW was this stuff great)

How much did that stuff cost you per pound from Tampa Bay, Including shipping. I got mine right here in Elk River from the guy that owned Wayzata tropics pet store in Wayzata. He moved his operation up north, but still has some rock here. I paid $4.50 per pound, with some coraline on it. The premium he had was $7. I only got a little bit of that hoping the coraline would spread to the other. It has small fanworm type growths on it. And hey got 2 emerald crabs as hitchhikers. I don't know if he still has anything in stock here anymore? I haven't contacted him in about 6 months.

I'm not opening a store, it will be a wholesale supply house for large business; like hotels, bars, Mall of America, large aquariums, and the like that are setting up or have existing aquariums and have sharks or are interested in purchasing them. I'm basically looking for ideas and references from people in the area to see if they are interested in the idea of what I am doing. I may expand it to reefs and other things later. Unfortunately I have no expertise in reefs and would have to hire someone that did.

Yes forest lake is Far from closing, and Harmar is on snelling and 36. Definately a place to go.

I did a little shopping and went to Amazin fish in st. louis park. cool place to check out, good live rock, and fish. Great coral (although a little pricy). Also went to Aqualand (?) just off of exselsior (sp) nice tank prices, both had helpfull people. I haven't found any MH lighting sources though (exept for internet, I got a dual 250MH retro kit on ----) paid 280.00 do you think that was high??

I don't think that is too high. Not sure though as I haven't ventured into MH lights. I know that a 175 pendant runs about $200, so that seems like a good deal that you got.
There's also a Aqualand on 52(or so)& Chicago, in south Minneapolis.
I must admit that I'm kind of suprised at the ***** in Roseville that you pointed out. They have a good selection of SW fish and Inverts. The fish looked healthy and didn't show any signs of ick. Although, the tanks were way overstocked. They have a blue carpet anemonie for $28!!!! Goto world of fish and pay $150(although a little bigger, not much though)

Also from Minneapolis here! Something Fishy is OK. World of Fish is too high priced. Everyone will tell you something different that is for sure. I would try to hook up with a custom shop like Advanced Aquarium if you are looking to build a decent system. They do systems of about $2000 and up.

Minnesota resident here as well, Moorhead. I frequent a little store called "K-9 Pet Store". The owner there, Tony, has been a valuable source of help and information. His prices are reasonable and the selections are usually very good. Ever get a chance to stop by there, you will, hopefully, be impressed.

im from worthington and the best store ive ever seen in mn (i am a petstore junkie) is world of fish <a href="http://www.worldoffish.com" target="_blank">www.worldoffish.com</a> they dont do mail orders yet but are verry reasonable on prices and have a huge selection. If your in twin cities aeria well worth lookin belive me
