I have what appears to be a pregnant CB Shrimp. I was wondering if anyone has ever had these hatch out and what the odds of survival would be.
Thanx

Do a search on preagnant shrimp and you will find no one including myself has ever succesfully raised shrimp in captivity. I have tried two differant times with no success. I think bang guy recomended a book or pamplet on raising shrimp by some lady about two months ago if you do the search you will probally locate it. If you have two shrimp they will stay preagnant and just help feed the tank some good food. If you only have one shrimp, they can have a supply of sperm stored and have some eggs that way but will soon run out. Hope this helps.

Thanks.
I ended up with a pair of shrimp by accident so if any of the babies survive it will be an accident too.

Your right, I believe CBS's are protandrous(?) hermaphrodites meaning the younger shrimp are males while the older are females, does that sound right? I can't remember the source that I got that from.

My CB shrimp (one of them any way) are Houdini-ites. I added one to the tank and after the second day it was gone. Figured it was crab poo. A couple months later I got a new one. The next morning I thought I was seeing double. Two shrimps and as luck would have it they paired up, no WWF in the tank. I wouldn't have been so shocked except that my tank is in the living room, I am home all day and don't have a huge amount of rock in the tank. I can't believe that thing was able to stay out of sight for a couple months.
