haha its not a rodent! its a marsupial actually and it has a pouch like kangaroos. I wouldn't care about them if they had a personality of hamster or something. but they live like 12-15 years and the whole thing is that they are loyal to you and stay on you and never run away haha.
plus its 500 for the cage and heating rock and like a years supply of food and whatever other things they give you lol.

I just want to see from peoples experience if they are really as good as the website says.

One of my LFS where I get my supplies and occasional fish/coral, also has a reptile section. They carry these things along with ferrets, rabbits, hamsters, hedgehogs, and snakes (that's where my daughter got her Baby Ball Python). My daughter walked up to this cage once where this 'pouch' was strung across like a hammock, and peered inside to see what was in there. We started hearing this ear-deafing screech coming from inside the pouch. My daughter jumped back and screamed. "What the heck was that?" The store clerk started laughing and told us they were Sugar Gliders, and they tend to do that when they are scared. He told us they were high maintenance animals, just like a ferret, and weren't for everyone. After hearing that squeal, along with being told they are nocternal and will keep you awake at night, I said, "You can scratch that animal off you wish list for pets."

My friend had one growing up. it lived for like 4 years and then just died. They need fed constantly, they have very high metabolisms and very similarly to a hummingbird, need alot of sugar from fruits. again as said before, kinda a boring pet. just sits there, hers seemed to be almost nocturnal more active in the evening than at the beginning of the day. Truthfully, she liked my hamsters alot more. they were trainable and her glider was not.

For a split second I was thinking of looking into these. Then a trip to the vet with the dog and a 1000 bucks later.... who needs a new pet.
