Just installed some moonlight LEDs. 4 for now to see how much light they provide and I have 6 more ready to install when I figure out where I want to aim them.

Cool.
Most of my polyps are staying open 24/7 now. If I'd known how much of a difference they make I'd have done this a long time ago. I'm sure this will stimulate growth. It'll be neat to see the difference in a few months and compare before and after pics. Have you always had moonlight or did you add it as a light upgrade? How big was the change in your coral (if any)?

Wow, those are bright. I have 2 little LED moonlights that are part of a fixture that basically just put out a very soft white light that is just bright enough for me to look into the tank if the lights are off in the room i'm standing in. Those you have look very pretty though, good job.

Yep. Some just have a wider angle than others so you might end up with spotlights. I would shine one in the tank at night just to see if you like it. If so, go for it. My kit was 99 cents plus $4 shipping and included 10 LEDs, 10 resistors, heat shrink tubing and instructions. I bought a 99 cent soldering iron and a tube of rosin core solder for $1.50 so I guess I have all of $7.50 invested. Oh and a 12 volt 300ma power supply for $9 from Wal-Mart bringing me to a cool $16.50. Make sure the LEDs voltage matches the supply voltage. Mine were rated 9-12 volt, but the resistors got a little too warm on the 9 volt setting of my power supply. Fry's electronic has a pretty good supply of electronics for the do-it-yourselfer.

Pulled out of the plastic which came with the glass lid. I just drilled some 3/16" holes where I wanted to put a light.
