I had my heater for years, if memory serves it was a stealth...It popped the top and killed almost everything in my tank. I only have titanium heaters now. Some people are not sure if the recall is real or a hoax.

It's true there was a recall for marineland heaters. I had to do the withdrawal at my store. They just said there were quality issues with the heaters that could cause it to malfunction.

It's true there was a recall for marineland heaters. I had to do the withdrawal at my store. They just said there were quality issues with the heaters that could cause it to malfunction.

You are right Gemmy - I am braindead - ours changed from super pet to Petsmart - I need some more sleep - I will call them as well, but I don't want to get a replacement from that store they don't carry any titanium heaters.

I would think any store that sells that brand can exchange it, the recall would be from the manufacturer not the stores that sell them. Marine stealth is not an exclusive Petsmart brand.

I tried to contact marineland...they are closed for the weekend and won't open until tomorrow. I posted the question about recalls on the e-mail for them to contact me.
I called a couple of petstores..*****...Petland and nobody else has heard of any recall. Petsmart said they honoring the recall. Do you think it could be an advertisment gimik?..it gets you in the store to return the heater and you might just buy something else while there...kind of thing.
