I don't quite understand the question.

I have a 150 gallon tank. It is deep... But what kind of deep are we talking here? 24''?? 30''? more?

My tank is 23'' deep and I have 2 150watt mh lights over my tank. Also have supplemental actinic lights.

I have a 155 non-bow that is the same depth.
I was running 3 150watt HQI's and 4 96 watt PCs. The PC's were actinics

It was fine for LPS, softies, clams and anemones (kept up top). As for the clams one is in the sand and the other is up top in the rocks and both are fine. SPS is fine as long as it's kept up top. I kept my lights 5-6" off the water.

My tank had SPS up top, then hardier LPS and miscellaneous polyps and zoathids, then more LPS and softies (especially mushrooms and ricordia) and the bottom had LPS (mainly acans), non-photosynthetics and mushrooms/soft corals

I just upgraded to 3 250watt MH's and there is a HUGE difference, but the 150's were fine.

Is your tank a 6ft long? If so, I think you need another halide unless you keep all your high lighting demands under the two lights and up top.

I have a 150 extra high i think its 30 deep. Be prepared to get wet reaching the bottom of that thing. I end up wet to my arm pit if I have to.
tank dimensions are 48x24x30. Very impressive set up i must say

For lighting I have 2 250 watt pendants but not a very impressive selection of corals at this time. have some zoos and acans on the sand that are doing fine.

Ive got long arms too. unless you are taller than 6 feet. I end up clear up to my armpit. but its amazing the aquascaping you can pull off is great with a tank this high. this is ours about a week after we upgraded

I don't think that the Solaris will cut it in that deep of a tank. I could be wrong.
If it's a 4ft tank, you should be fine with the lights you're currently running, maybe you need a stronger ballast and better bulbs? %%

I.E. I don't know if you've looked into it much but I don't think that you can purchase a new solaris fixture anymore. I'm pretty sure they had to stop selling them because of patenting issues.

I have a 110 extra-hi, 30" deep. Running 2x250 MH - after a couple weeks of research and suggestions it was concluded that this was going to be my best bet to 'future-proof' the system so I could keep anything I wanted in it later down the line.

thanx for the helpful info. dnt know what im going to do yet with the ank as far as coral.when all the cloudiness dissapeared i was really happy with the lights actually got shimmer on the botom. i have 2- 175 watt mh, to 96 watt pc's and 2 t-5 h.o.'s. this is how i got the tank my buddy who i play darts with had it as a reef but had no luck so he told me hew was going to sell everything to the lfsfor $500.00 i said ill take it. it came with a cascade 700 and 1200 canister filter the t-5 light fixture, testers, and one fo those telescope salinity testers im going to post pics later.

I have a deep 120. Personally, I like the look of a deep tank but find it a pain to aquascape. But that wasn't the question. I used to run 2x250 halides and 4x65w 10k compacts and 4x65w actinics. Now I run 2x150 halides and 2x96w 10k and 2x96 actinics. The tank seems to be okay with the current light setup. Now when I had the 250s, we built a canopy that must have hovered 18+ inches above the tank. The new halides are only a few inches above. I'm guessing even though I lowered the power of the halides but also lowered the height considerably, the difference in power is negligible. If that makes any sense.

I plan on supplementing my lights with some sort of leds. I havent decided on what yet but for now the 250s are doing the job. I dont know what kind of growth to expect from anything on the sand but it seems to be more than enough to sustain the corals Ive placed there.

When I ran my 150g 30" deep tank I ran dual 250w halides and supplemented with two 54w t-5 actinics. It gave me plenty of light.
