I would like to get some Aiptasia if anyone has them I just need it for filter reason. My tank is not a reef tank so I just need to filter in my sump. Let me know if any of you have them and live in southern california.

If you are wanting microalgae in your sump as a filter, please go with cheato and/or xenia. Both work well in bringing nitrates down. Little aiptasia will soon take over your tank unless you have plans on killing it in the DT every time it *floats* in from your sump. Peppermint Shrimp can get rid of it, but they are a hit and miss.

Copperbands are also good. Especially in a FOWLR tank.

If you really want it then just go to the LFS and find it on a piece of rock..it s always there...buy the rock and the aptasia only needs to be fed... one will become meny in just days. It will be the healthiest stuff you ever cultivated.

Depends on what kind of system. If its a mature one they will have more nature food. But to a newbe they can be hard to keep alive.

Okay you lost me...we were talking about aptasia...what are we talking about now? cause I am sure meowzer wouldn't be sad she had one that died.
I thought I could just keep following along and figure it out but no, I am lost. I even reread the posts and still I am lost.

Seems dragonboy has a nitrate problem in his fish only tank and want to use the Aiptasia as a filtering critter. Seems like a strange way to go but I am pretty sure it would work.
Why not try some Xenia instead, just as prolific, good water fliter and you can harvest for store credit too.

OOooooo....My anemone ate mine
I thought they were a pretty hardy fish. I never had any problems keeping them. The flame angels on the other hand...I gave up on.
