WHY? If you go to a Christian place to hold a speech it should be expected that there are signs of Jesus and Christianity....I do not see how there could be a problem with that....
AND IF it were to be a problem...give your speech in a public..Non-Christian..place
IMO

because other people of different religions watching the speech might get offended or something idk? I was just saying I agree with that guy cause everyone is making a big deal about it probably all the christians, if he didn't cover it then the jews or something would get mad if they watched it. idk though so disregard this post if I sound stupid, either way I think obama is a tool.

I agree thats not the point. But salt life stated he/she thought christians were the ones offended by it.
I am just offended that we as a nation are so blind we cannot see the hypocrisy...

I'm not offended as a Christian.....If he went to a Jewish temple, or anywhere else...I would have the same opinion...

If he would have not covered it and gave the speech with the symbol for Jesus above his head, people would have been yelling blasphemy that he is trying to symbolize himself as the messiah.
Besides, he made several references to scriptures during his speech that wasn't in the posted article.

I agree, if he didn't cover it then there would be a whole different point of view on this issue.
I can say that this bothers me on a pretty high scale (the original topic). For all the folks saying that this would be a completely different issue if he hadn't covered it I have one thing to say to you...... Dont FING WATCH IT.
I am sick and tired of people complaining about STUPID CRAP!! If you don't like the religious symbols or text and know that the speech is being held at a CHURCH, don't watch the speech. If everyone wasn't spending all their time bickering about the variables we would all get along much better.

...or just listen to it on the radio.

PBLRDom, I think you misunderstood my post. I am Catholic, and personally don't think he should've spoken there in the first place given his stance on abortion.
What I am trying to say is that the symbol covered was "IHS" which basically means "Savior" or "Savior of Men". If this speech was televised with the word Savior above Obama's head, many conspiracists would get the wrong idea and think he is trying to portray himself as a savior. After all, enough people already think he's the antichrist

Why he couldn't do the speech in another area or at a different angle, I don't know. But personally, I don't think they would have covered it up if it were a crucifix or other statue.
Don't sweat the small stuff.

I'm Catholic as well, I wasn't specifically calling you out on anything other than you basically agreeing that it was OK to cover it up. Our points after you revised your statement are basically the same. He should have chosen an alternate location, or left it alone.
As far as what people conceive from where its held or the text that's in the monument...... Like i said DON'T WATCH IT!
If Obama held the speech in a temple or another religious place of worship I would do one of two things.
1. Have an open mind ignoring the surroundings and listen the the point of the entire endeavor.
2. If it bothered me where it was - NOT WATCH IT! Listen to it on the radio/internet/read the text.

I find it amusing. Personally, I think obama went to "church" (a term I'll use for commutative purposes only because the rev. Wright's "church" is no church) because he felt like it would benefit him politically. And it did. You see headlines that christendom is in decline. When over 75% of Americans claim some form of christian religion. (now imo this is a cultural response not a response based on beliefs) However 75% is a significant number.
But that being said, I think people are reading a little to much into it. There is little doubt what true left wing nutcase liberals think about Christianity, and obama is a true left wing nutcase liberal.
There is no right or wrong, but only what is best for him. Liberalism can't stand on its ideas. Because they are bass ackwards. The only reason it win is because of pageantry and misinformation.
So when the "great" obama goes into a place and give a speech the presentation and show must be perfect so people see the show not hear what he says. So the picture must be perfect for the upward shot of obama giving a speech. And an image of Jesus popping his head out would just mess the image all up.

I agree. I would expand a little and say "See the show, and not hear what he says, but hear whatever they want to hear".
