sci-fi & fantasy r us.
Ender's Game (Orson Scott Card) and Wraeththu (Storm Constantine) are my 2all-time favorite books, and I read the entire hobbit series, the Earth-Sea trilogy, and Phantom Tollbooth at least once every 2years.
I also love children's poetry; Shel Silverstein is fecking brilliant.
I'm currently in the middle of Robin Hobb's Tawny Man series, after having finished the Assassin's Apprentice. I hate these books. I can not stop reading them. they are robbing me of my sleep.

I have read most books by Grisham, although after a while they all take on the same tone. I would HIGHLY recommend The Innocent Man, though.
Dean Koontz books are OK but I have always found that they get a bit too sci-fi when the story starts to unravel at the ends.
Anne Rice's Vampire series is great. Haven't read any of the others.
John Saul is good.
Stephen King has some classics, but some of his stories are a bit slow. My favorite was probably Pet Semetary.
I read Star Wars books when I just want something easy and entertaining. No thought necessary and they are quick reads.
Night by Elie Weisel is one of the best books ever written but it is a bit heavy and depressing.
My favorite childhood book was Where the Red Fern Grows. Forgot who the author was but I read it every year or two growing up. I may have to hit that one again...

i am always reading something. i like fantasy mostly. and although i am 28 years old, i mostly have read childrens books lately.
first of all, J.K. rowling is probably one of the best authors ever just because of harry potter.
JRR Tolkien is fantastic. i have read lord of the rings straight through probably about 10 times as well as the hobbit. the silmarillion is a bit heavy and so are the unfinished tales and all his others.
CS Lewis is great too. right now i am finishing up the narnia series for the second time. very good stuff.
phillip pullmans dark materials were pretty good. golden compass, subtle knife and the amber spyglass. definately not what i expected. although i didnt see the movie the golden compass. any good?
right now i am looking for a new book, maybe some classic american lit. maybe moby ----, the grapes of wrath, the jungle, or even the catcher in the rye. anyone have any suggestions??

Umm, that would be Douglas Adams, not Charles, and it's "Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy"
