Anyone planning their garden yet?

Today is our average last frost date. I may be able to turn over some ground this weekend, next weekend latest.
Are you doing anything in your garden this year different from last?
I keep telling myself that this year I will start asparagus. Maybe next year....

Hey Joe, Avid gardener here our last frost date is middle of May. Built a greenhouse last year, few finishing touches and it should be ready to go.

Going to be starting my seeds this weekend. I'm going to build a small rack and recycle my used Keurig K Cups as seed planters. Already have about 30 of them cleaned and ready to go and by this weekend I should have another 10 or so ready. So far we're planning on doing beets, tomatoes, bell peppers, jalapeno peppers, poblano peppers, cucumbers and acorn squash.

That sounds great! I have started with seeds before, but down here, nice plants are available very early. I expect to start seeing plants by next weekend.
So, being in NY, you have a little DYI greenhouse, as in covering your rack with clear plastic or something? You still have a couple of weeks before your average last frost, correct?

We've got another 2 weeks or so to get out of the frost range. We have a lot of choices to start with already growing plants but I'm going cheap this year and trying seeds out. I am going to start mine off on a rack that I'll build in my basement with a florescent grow lamp.

We have a good 3 weeks yet before the danger of frost ends. This year we are changing our "traditional" garden into some raised beds. Just a space issue with us. Our backyard is full with gardens, pool, deck, and 2 large dogs. We did however start our seeds about 3-4 weeks ago---heirloom tomatoes, herbs, and some flowers. It is probably just wishful thinking but I always feel like we have better flavor from the tomates we start from seed. It is so simple to do and when I can't stand winter anymore it gives me hope that spring will come when I start seeing baby plants coming up. Our next door neighbor recently passed away at 96! He had a beautiful garden till he died, a few years back he gave us a tomatoe that he grew from seeds that were originally his grandfathers. We collected the seeds and have grown them since. I have no idea what they are called, they are yellow and sweet so we call them "Mr. Smith's sunshine tomatos". This year we will particularly enjoy them and share them with his wife.

i put up a fence around my garden this year to keep the dog out. were doing the usual, tomatoes, bell peppers, cucumbers and eggplant. last year i grew some pumpkin which i may do again. i also want to grow edamame soy beans, and i might start doing grapes. oh yeah, i do 4 different types of hot peppers.
not gonna plant for about 3 weeks yet though.

just put the fence up around our today.i went and got 2 1/2 yards of soil.there is a place here that takes top soil and mixes beer, pop and gatorade with it.this mix will grow veggies like crazy.
i dont know what my wife is planting but she has alot of starter plants about 4-6 inches tall.we dont do the seed thing.
when i took the pic and turned around here is my goat eating my tree.my garden would be wiped out in an hour without a fence.look at the closer goat isnt she the ugliest think you have ever seen?

I'll probably do something similar to last year except I'm adding an additional pea/tomato fence on the north side of the yard.
