my unicorn is a pig she eats everything i add to the tank but the foods i do offer to her daily are spectrum pellets(thera+A) 2 times a day for all fish mid day feeding is pellet and veggie flakes by omega one).evening i mix up a soup of all my fish foods for all the fish. the tang and and all herbivore selection is as followed
(all frozen prepared)
emerald entrese
formula 2
cyclopseze
somtimes i will shred seaweed selects and add to the mix
i peridodicly intentionally purchase corals and live rock peices cover with hair algae and bubble algae just to toss in the tank for them my unicorn can clean a rock fully covered with bubble algae in a matter of minutes(she loves this stuff). my accual foods list is kinda large because of divercity of species i keep in one tank.but i do my best to make ever species has exectly what it needs and offer it daily
the total soup ingredients i feed to my tank nightly is the following: this fed to my agressive tank also.they all eat just about everything but are offered what they need i stress this as very important when deciding which foods to use in a tank
herbivore foods:
emerald entrese,formula 2 cyclopseze
omnivores ;
mysis shrimp,phlanton,formula 1,reef formula,
angels:
angel formula and pigmy angel formula by ocean nutrition
carnivores:
krill, squid yum yums, clam yum yums(yum yums are chopped formed cubes)
all soaked in selcon and garlic extreme to thaw in a cup of water.
i hope this helps
adding fresh grown macro algaes peridocicly ( i grow this in sep tank) as a treat
alsoo offering a couple times a week shredded sewaed selects to the mix

Finally got my tangs to eat frozen emerald entree!!!! However, they will only eat very very small pieces, they wont go for anything that is the size of mysis?? I guess i need to just give them time. Also, i LOADED it w/ garlic

a little update, ive gotten the yellow tangs to eat a mixture of emerald entree, brine shrimp, and mysis shrimp w/ garlic. the powder blue picks at it then spits it out i dont get it. they all eat algae off the rocks, substrate and glass. also they pick at lettuce and algae sheets, this includes the powder blue, which he wouldnt touch lettuce and algae sheets before i had to qt him! going to order some vitachem also!

Excellent! I am glad to hear you are making progress. Also, just as a tip, lettuce is not usually the greatest thing to use because it is mainly just water. You would be better off using seaweed and nori sheets.

what do you think about feeding them twice a day?? for the past couple of days, we've been giving small feedings 2 times a day, it seems to be working.

Small feedings two times a day is good for the fish, especially if they are trying to recover from a disease. Don't overfeed though. Feed them less at each feeding if you are going to feed them twice a day.

I'm not feeding them alot when i feed them since i've been feeding them twice a day. i just think, instead of one big feeding, two smaller feedings would be more beneficial. And the thing i dont like about the algae sheets is they fall apart TOO easy and its such a pain.

its comes in big sheets that you can tear(its perforated(sp)), and the big sheets are folded in thirds, so i tear off a piece thats prolly 6-7inches long, and 1 n half inches wide, but i leave it all folded up so it doesnt fall apart too fast, but it still kinda makes a mess. we still use it, but arent happy about it.

But what do you do with it? Do you put it on a clip, or what?
That is the exact stuff I use. It doesn't ever fall apart for me because I rubberband it a piece of rubble rock for my fish and stick it in the middle of my tank for all the fish to pick at.

sorry, its late lol, yes we clip it. do you keep it all folded up like we do? that sounds like an awesome idea, b/c they're picking at all the rocks anyways! thanks!!

Yeah, I do usually fold it up a little, or else my batfish will come down and just rip the entire thing off the rock. I don't put it in for him, but he thinks I do. He is so strong he can pick up the sheet with his mouth, including the rock and swim with it while he is trying to get it off the rock.

However, yes, it works very well because it is so natural.

some fish are so greedy
thanks for the great idea...shoulda thought of it myself lol. do your fish totally eat all of it right away or do you have to remove it yourself. im thinking your batfish takes care of the cleaning part though...

No, I don't ever have to remove it, lol. Between my batfish, kole tang, and map angel, it gets eaten pretty quickly.
