Hello. I have a Jebo 180 skimmer. When i got it there was no directions in the box. I will try and explain this the best i can. I have the U tube connected to the skimmer and to the pump. I do not know if the air tube is supposed to be sucking in air or water. So should the air tube be going from the pump into the tank or should it be sucking air from outside? If i am lacking in information i might be able to give more with questions. Also ai have 2 round black foam peices. Do i use them both and if so where do they go?

I am not sure about that skimmer but you need to suck air in through the pump. So to answer your question the air line should suck air from the outside. That is what makes the bubbles that causes the foam to collect in the cup.

Hey Ive got that skimmer the Tube should hook onto a little piece (if your looking at it from the front of the tank) on the left side of the water return thing out of water. The foam piece goes around the air tube where it meets the pump.

i have that skimmer also, but im having trouble getting it running. it seem that even with full air blast, i still have too many bubbles coming up top and within like an hour, the collection cup is full of water.

mushroom type piece goes on output of powerhead, venturi tube hooks on the the middle of that, sponge goes over both.
exactly the way it is set up on the picture.
running closed venturi, the collection cup fills up with water right away, but if i let it run venturi wide open, it looks like bubble central in my tank and the collection cup fills with white bubbles that turn into water in about 1 hour
i could never let it run overnite because it would overflow the collection cup
i think the power head is too strong for it

What type of powerhead came with it? Mine came with a jebo AP1500 powerhead. If you have it wide open and it is over flowing then you must have alot to remove. You might have to drill it and hook it up to a collection bottle "im thinking of doing that" mine will get alot of stuff over night and almost overflow.

thats not a problem. here is a problem. if i have it wide open, then it helps slow down the collection of foam, but my tank looks like crap because its all bubbles. if i close the venturi, the tank isnt all bubbled, but now im getting water in my cup waaaaay too fast

It takes awhile for the skimmer to break in and to slow down on the bubbles. Give it time and adjust when you hit that sweet spot the bubbles will be eliminated to bigger bubbles that just float on the survice and pop. Dont worrie not alot just some.

I also have that skimmer. How exacally would you drill it and add a bigger bottle or cup to it?

Basically you drill a hole in the collection cup run clear plastic tubing to it and glue in place then you run it down under your tank into a 2 liter soda bottle. Takes alot longer to fill up that way. Im planning on doing when I get the nerve lol.

Alright kool, thats wut i figured. Also, when I first added my LR when i first setup my tank, I use to get very dark thick stuff in the collection cup. Now that my tank is established and running, I dont get that anymore. I get kinda like a tea look to. Not really really dark. Is this cuz I have a small bio-load now? I have a 45g tank with 90 pounds of LR 60 pounds of LS and a hang on filter using just the sponge and the skimmer. I have a few corals and 3 fish. So is the skimmer working like its suppose it?

OK I think my problem is that i don't have a valve on my tubing. I have no way of setting the air intake. Is there something i can buy that will work? Also do the bubbles hurt the fish at all?

You can go to any hardware store and pick up any valve that will fit on the end of the tube. Some ppl will say that to many bubbles can be harmful. I guess becuz salt builds up in the bubbles and when they burst it can be harmful to livestock? Something like that. The reason you have so many bubbles is becuz you have no valve so to much air is going in. When you pick up a valve and adjust how much air goes through, that will fix your problem.
