Some of the corraline isnt looking quite as nice, but im mid cycle, amm=4 (peak i guess, been there for 3 days) nitrite=off the chart nitrate=0 ph=8.2 at 1.022 Day 5 sound crazy? and should I be worried about the algea on this rock?

I wouldn't worry about any algae at this point. I would worry about such a high Ammonia level though.
If it were me I would pick up the rock a little, give it a really good shake, and then do a 50% water change.

Many hobbiest believe that a mid cycle water change slows everything down.
I have a different opinion based on experience of doing it each way many times.

See a post I made on this topic quoting an email I got from Dr. Fenner. (Do a search)
Ammonia above 1ppm is toxic to even the bacteria you are trying to propogate. Do a water change immediately.
(And take the fish back of course...)

ammo dropped to 1- trites maxed out , ive heard that high trites will give a false trate reading. Trates test at 1 but is that just because of the trites?

I was told to expect some die off from LFS - said it was normal? Is the 1point of ammo really killing it so bad that it wont revive after cycle? Is this whole idea unfounded? I would also LOVE to hear some more opinions on water change mid cycle--longer/shorter/no diff?

I have a 75gallon tank and heve been cycling and curing live rock in it for about a month. I have found that a 7% water change which is about 5 gallons every 4 days has really helped my LR come around. I have some nice purples, pink and green algaes that are thriving. I have been advised and have read that frequent water changes when curing or re-curing rock is good for it. I have noticed that the decay smell has vastly reduced and a clean fresh smell has replaced it throughout the tank.
hope this helps
