there is nothing harsh about this... what is harsh is that it sounds as though he and his buddies could be on a path of wrong doing... one of the first things you learn is NOT TO STEAL and to treat others as you wish to be treated... theft only makes prices go up for those of us that actually pay... typically once a theif always a theif...

At this point, the only right thing to do is going back and paying for everything that you stole (being that it was a few months ago and you cannot return what was stolen).

i cheate on tests by studying for them... if i wanted something i asked for it... if it wasnt given to me i earned money for whatever it was that i wanted... and typically as a kid if i earned half my parents would chip in sometimes up to half... i am not saying that i am perfect, but i have always known how wrong it is to steal...
yes people can change, but it usually takes getting caught a few times for reality to sink in, or they continue with a genuine disrespect for people and THEIR property...

Better to help out then complain about the system, I am now a 2nd term elected Mayor.

um what about the fish store?? most have a tough enough time getting by anyway, why do you think there is so few around? its a tough business let alone when people are stealing stuff from them.
i think you should either bring back what you took if its not dead already or pay the total of what you stole and leave it up to the store to decide if they want to press charges.
all i know is that i love this hobby and its crap like this that puts more and more people out of business. now are this fish stores going to have to watch for people stealing their fish and corals? its only going to drive prices up more and going to hurt the customers in the long run. i dont know about you but i dont want to go to ***** to buy supplies and such.

The price wont go up because of theft. More money will just have to be spent on extra employees security etc. Price stability is generally a stores main concern. There is already a huge markup on live goods to make up for the losses and theft. However, they have to keep competitive prices in order to stay in business so really it only hurts the store. I think the best thing you can do now is realize what you did was wrong and never do it again. I worked in a fish store and I got most of my tank for free because when new shipments came in the manager would let us take the leftovers from last shipment home for free to make room for the new stuff. I remember telling the people on this board that I got it all for free and being called a thief and getting this same heat lol. Ive done shipment for plenty of fish stores and stolen goods does not effect prices. In terms of live goods, ( i dont know what he actually stole because his post was deleted) stolen goods are the same as losses from death. If the supplier offers a guarentee on its fish, it will actually hurt them the most because they will end up replacing a fish that never died it was just stolen. (when you have thousands of fish in your store, its very hard to keep count of the ones that die.) Stealing dry goods is what hurts the store the most. They spend alot more on dry goods than they do on live fish and coral. I believe the markup at the stores I worked at was generally 3-400%. Dry goods was something much smaller like 150-200%. Fish tanks were actually sold at almost cost. Also keep this in mind when you bring a fish in for credit. For example, we would buy volitan lions for 10$ and sell them for atleast 40. If you brought in a volitan lion we would give you 20. The customer would be mad and say why if you are selling them for 40. The reason is, we would rather buy from the supplier and get it for less. Also, we dont know the health of your fish whereas alot of suppliers have guarentees on their fish. Now stop stealing ya big jerk.

just curious... how would you feel if someone went into your room and stole your stuff ?..
and i blame it all on the parents..
one is not taught to steal, he is taught not to.

Congratulations.
Dont know why. I believe that the politicians work for the people not the other way around, after all isnt that the reason they choose to run for political office and were elected? Over the years there seems to be an increasing trend that several politicians are taking ,they flip flop and sway around constantly changing sides on an issue and saying what ever will make them popular. This is somewhat hypocritical and shows a serious lack foundation and commitment for public service IMO. I dont trust most of them because they are afraid to take a stand. Doing whats right is often unpopular and because of this many good people (not career politicians) who could make positive changes are excluded from ever running for office. Money also keeps good people from obtaining office, which IMO is corrupt. Most every politician I have met is so far removed from the average person they may as well be living on another planet. They live in big houses, make lots of money, never wait in line, never wait in traffic, have maids and are largely unaffected by the issues that the average citizen faces on a daily basis, so how can they possibly relate to or even begin to know how to fix anything? This is why most politicians are inneffective.
IMO many politicians run for office for purposes of power and greed and simply dont care about helping the people who elected them. The problem with politics is politicians.

Caviar and lobster can get expensive. Or how they vote themselves pay raises and more days off yet none of them object to it. If they were paid by how sucessful they are there would be a lot of vacant seats.

Have you ever sat in on a senate or really any political meeting? Its actually pretty funny when you get to watch and hear first hand.
