Hi, just starting the research phase for starting a SW tank.
I know I'll want a clown fish, but I see that they can be bought either wild caught or aquacultured. Can someone explain what the difference is? Is one prefered over the other?

Just for reference
WC = Wild Caught = as an adult
CR = Captive raised = wild caught as a juvelile or larvae and raised to adult in captivity
CB = Captive bred = eggs laid in captivity and raised in captivity
WC Clownfish have a higher than average rate of disease.
WC Clownfish are considered a better choice for broodstock.
CB Clownfish have less chance of disease but there is still a small chance.
CB Clownfish have no impact on the wild reefs.
CB Clownfish are completely adapted to the captive environment.

Also, from what I have read, wild caught are caught by releasing cyanide into the water to paralyze the fish so that it can be caught. The effects are to wear off later, but the damage it can do is internal, so you may end up loosing the fish sooner in your tank than tank raised fish.
