when they something is aquacultured what does that mean? like an aquacultured clarkii clownfish.

I believe it is another way of saying tank raised or born in captivity.

Yes, it covers both - Captive Raised and Captive bred/propogated.

It means get that kind if you can Besides , in most cases, giving you a better chance at success with it, the animals weren't taken form the wild and don't contribute to destroying natural reefs etc. In my opinion, I'd rather pay more for aquacultured. The animal doesn't need to adjust to life in a captive environment and it helps keep the oceans the way they belong. It's like the best of both worlds.

Sometimes yes, sometimes no. It all depends on what it is.

Aquaculture can sometime be more expensive but not by much, that extra buck that you have to pay for the aquacultured is well worth it since these fishes are more hardy and disease resistant than the fishes found in their environment. And I would prefer to chose aquacultured than wild caught.

is there anyway to tell? or can a lfs just say it's aquacultured to get an extra buck and it really not be?

short of hiring a P.I.? probably not. i'd like to think the LFS wouldn't sink that low, and yet a part of me wouldn't even be a bit suprised.
