Aquarium snow?

I have been doing some research (including the "search button") on which zoos and mushrooms I would like to keep after my tank is mature enough and more than once I came across the term "Aquarium snow" in the "what they eat section" section. I am wondering if this is a product or just a general term for the stuff that floats around the tank from previous feedings and biological inputs from the critters? I have a good 6 months before I get too worried about it, but I like to start early and do plenty of research.
Thanks.

If you have a lfs they should carry it...I don't, so I buy everything online...most places carry it...I think it is ok...I use it once a week...sometimes less (if I forget)

I have heard it is good. I think I kind of lean toward the kent zooplankton feed for corals though. They sell both on here if you want to look. You can try different kinds and see what kind of success you can get.

I would seriously never put something like that in my tank. The corals you speak of don't need it and pouring dead stuff in your tank will cause nutrient problems. If you are looking for a supplement, go for something live.

I thought it was good for filter feeders and stuff like that, even gorgs?

Don't feel like that. I know several people who use either the kent's like my lfs or marine snow like a friend of mine and their corals look great. I plan on using kent's personally. i believe cranbery is correct in that it would be a little more beneficial to use live but i don't have the inclination to start a lab in my house to grow them. As long as your filtration is good, you should be fine.

You can buy live in a bottle at the store.
If you start seeing problems meowzer that are usually associated with nutrient excess, look to the dead stuff first.

Really? I don't think I have seen that. Is it in the refridgerated section? I might be inclined to use live or a little of both for that matter. What is it called or where do you order it from?

Yes, it's refrigerated. I don't think I'm allowed to tell you where to order it from. If you get some, get the bottles that aren't a blend. Buy those species that are packaged separately. The theory of providing you with different species that have different nutritional values and size looks nice on paper but does not smell nice in bottle. They will kill each other off leaving you with a single species in the end and a whole mess of nasty bottled debris.

I can't say these products aren't any good.... I would just never use them.
You have no STORE!!! If it's still cold where you live I will send you a bottle just because I pity you... lol.
I should also say I talk phyto everyday... it's my side job. I don't want anyone thinking I have a hidden agenda if they find out who I work for.
