Hiya,
I have a new 10g nano up and running for about 3 weeks now, cycle had completed and parameters are fine. I bought 2 turbo snails, and 1 red legged hermit for clean up on Monday. All 3 acclimated fine and started working on clean up. This morning I woke up and found one of my turbos on the sand with another larger snail on top of it trying to eat it, it seemed. This snail I didnt buy and must be a hitchhiker. I has the 2 long eye stalks and 1 long snoot nose, I pulled the 2 snails apart and move the new snail onto the rocks and he immediatly run under the rocks to his hidding spot. I initially thought the turbo was dead but after 2 hours it came back out of the shell and is now moving along again. SO my question is what type of snail do ya think the hitchhicker is, after researching I dont think it is a fighting conch cause it is never on the sand always on the rocks, and it is also never out when the lights are on. Do you advice I take it out of the tank? also do snails change shells like hermits? ( my hermit changed shells the first 5 minutes I had him in the tank was awesome to see ) . Thanks in advance, will try and get a pic of the killer snail, I also thought it might be a murex sp. snail, but the shell doesnt have the fancy sharp points
