This first auto maker to run an ad stating we did not take a bail out. We understand how to do business, and won't ever need to use tax payer money because we are stupid, is the next auto manufacturer I buy from. I don't care if it is a friggin' yugo.

Wow, if the automakers own management can't fix their own problems, what in the world is some law-school appointed nimwit remotely know about the automotive field?
Here comes the complete socialism. Hey if anyone wants a buyout, you just have to turn the industry over to the Feds. First automakers, then watch, gas prices are going to continue to drop, the petrolum guys are going to start screaming. Gov't approves a bailout for them, but they have to appoint an "oil czar" to control them. Venuezula is going to look pretty inviting.
If that scenario is a bit extreme, either way, with this "Car Czar" say good bye to the days of anything fun to drive. All of us forced into tiny 130hp Econoboxes

I have to say, bailing out the auto industry is the dumbest thing congress has EVER done, and they've done some pretty dumb things (like funding the bridge to nowhere).
Giving them money to bail them out of their own, self-made troubles, sends the wrong signal. It says "screwing up is ok, cause we're here to give you more money if you do". It also tells them that what they're doing currently is "ok business" so they'll never innovate, but instead make the same CRAP they have all along. It's total BS in my opinion. What a waste of taxpayer money, especially in this tough time. What they should have done was put that money in the hands of the workers that got laid off or lost wages because of the auto-industry's bad decisions.... and even that's a stretch.

No, the money from these bailouts should not have been given to any of the taxpayers. Here is why. say every citizen gets a huge influx of cash say 1 million dollars from say the

bailout instead. What does this do to everyone's disposable income? It suddennly increases. In turn what then happens to prices and the cost of goods? They go up, essentially evening out the field except the poverty level has moved from XX thousand dollars a year to one million dollars a year. Handing huge sums of money to the tx payer does not solve anything it only compounds things in the long run. Because everyone has money now Milk would cost 50 dollars a gallon instead 5. This is why you can't hande out bailout money to the population in general.

I have the simpliest, easiest solution by far, BTW, to solve the Amercican AutoMakers problems, just tariff the Japanese as much as the Japanese tariff American cars trying to be sold in Japan. Watch sales of American cars perk right up.

I don't think any of these cars are "all american" anymore. It is just based on where your headquarters are. Heck the Chysler isn't even an american company anymore. They are a subsidiary of a german company. Ford and Chevy both build cars in Canada and mexico..

2nd bailout for Chrysler. I say 1 time only. I think there should have been a mandate that at least 2 plants per company need to re open here in the US. The Chrysler van now has 2 plants in Canada (one was just closed her in STL and moved to Canada)
How about that 900 million plant that Chrysler just built in Russia?? When will we be seeing those cars here?

i should have clarified myself. by all-american, i meant that they (all 3) were made in america. obviously, the parts are made scattered about the globe.

I've been busy in my filmmaking... it seems my projects have gotten huge (like... working on theatrical releases...)... so I haven't had time for this place. In fact, I sold my fish tank because I didn't have time for it. But I still like it around here, and still remember all the intermediate-level knowledge that I learned during my fish days.
