Its really hard to say. It just depends on what you want to keep. you will be able to keep most corals with the standard aquapod. zoos, mushrooms, star polyps, glove polyps, many others....if you want an anemone for some clown fish you will need at least the 70w HQI....if you want to keep sps then i'd go with the 150w HQI. You can always upgrade later, but.... you will get it cheaper now. look at the prices on this site, you may even be able to get it from here....i don't know.
It looks like 100 dollars more for 70w HQI....you will be able to find it online somewhere. it will be over 200 more by itself.

ya stand is about$102 bucks they are made local.. just a basic one..
oh and what are these? ....if you want to keep sps
but to sum it up on basic lights.. the normal lights that just come with a a basic startup kit not the aqua pods ect.. they are just like lights for you kitchen? and just will give off light.. good enogh for clown fish and LR??
I'm staring to get this but just need to sum up... as lots of info to go though my head right now AHHHH

take your time....
yes, the lights you will get will probably be just normal lights for freshwater system. these lights will not have enough light to have corals....just fish. Lr doesn't matter.
Start with whats comfortable, but look to the future as well. If you buy and want to make changes you may be disappointed. there are other setups besides the aquapods and cubes.
If you want to go with the 29gal like the lfs says. 120 + 105 for the stand, it will work, you will be happy. But check with them on lighting for later, way the options.

live rock and live sand are very important so don't skimp on it. Your lfs charges alot for live rock, try j&l in BC, they have a variety of live rock, not just fiji. i personally have not found a LFS with live rock i would buy. its all been cheap fiji base rock, but it's cost $4.99-7.99, and i'm pretty sure it's the same as your lfs, do you know exactly what kind of rock it is that he's charging so much for? As for sand get arag-alive pink or white or black, just make sure it says arag ALIVE. They come in 20 lb bags so use one bag or 1 and a half would be better. Get the 29 gallon biocube to start. in time you can order a custom hood with upgraded lighting from nano customs. But for now the stock 29 biocube will do fine for fish and soft corals. if you can afford ro/di unit then get it, it was one of the first things i got and paid $300 canadian. if you insist on tap water be ready to pay a price down the line. but if tap is your choice then make sure you use a good water purifier. try and get 30 lbs of good live rock. it is going to act as your main filter and 5 lbs won't do much. in the filter chamber i would put a sapphire protein skimmer that is made just for that tank. in the other chamber you can add live rock rubble/filter floss, and in the third the heater and pump and a bag of carbon. also a test kit is needed to know when you complete the cycle. for a tank that size a pair of the smaller clowns would be fine, plus a variety of other fish, like a firefish and many different gobys are an option, plus hermit crabs and 2 cleaner shrimp and snails.
This is all pretty much what i'm doing except i got the 24 gallon aquapod as it was 100$ cheaper, so you can consider that also.

well found some cheeper LR at
QUANTITY PREMIUM FIJI ROCK TONGA DEEPWATER VANUATU
Under 1 Box $4.59 CDN $5.95 CDN $8.49 CDN
but the shiping from the WEST coast to the EAST coast is about $90 per box...and i think that would be 4.59 /lbs but they say a box is about 65 lbs.. might call them to see what they can do

as far as substrate you can use live and not live sand. just don't get crushed coral....alot of people recommend just sand.
lr you should try and get either 1 to 1.5lbs per gallon of water. the more the marrier.

Hea have another quick question... a friend of mine said that he run normal lights but he has 2 light bar one blue and one white
"make sure you have two light bars in it is you need a daylight and an acitinic for your blue light"
what are acitinc lights and whey do you have to run this way? and to only run them for 6 hours a day?

actinics are to bring out the colors of the corals and fish. I heard tho that they penetrate through the water more so it is good for zooaxanthalle. You definetly need the daylights lights (usually 10,000k)on for the full amount of time. (8 to10hours a day)

the major all in one nano cubes all have both kinds of lights, which is another good reason to look into one of them. If you can afford the red sea max then that would be the best choice i think. Also JBJ 2007 model looks pretty nice, they even have a protein skimmer built in.

i usually go to big al's in oakville, dragon aquarium in mississauga has nice corals. oakville reef gallery is right across the street from big als oakville which i missed the first time, they are good also with more personal service because big als is busy.
i bought my live tonga rock online from j&l in BC as i could not find anything but the same old fiji rock at every store i went to.
