I have a blue background. It looks more natural to me. If you have ever dived or snorkeled especially in the Caribbean the background is blue.

I voted black because it does bring evrything out more and colors are more vivid. Now get this, I plan on putting a red/orange backround on my seahorse tank. Any thoughts on this?

O.K BLACK on the freshwater, reason for the black I have 2 BIG irridesent sharks, they are prone to swimming fast an smaking there noses on the tank walls, but w/ black they seem more comfortable an swim slowley an enjoy there surronding more. BLUE on the saltwater., it's ocean water, got to be BLUE.
'GOOD LUCK GOOD FISHIN"

black or blue I can not decide. Coral line algea covers the back anyway. but I would not paint my tank, chemicals later on could find there way in your tank, osmosis can bite you on the butt sometimes people who clean clean there tanks with windex watch out!!! my two cents BioReefer:)
