Bad idea??

I had a plumbing issue with my 30 gallon fuge. It was idle for a week, the inlet valve was cloged and was not in sync with the flow system. (Meaning my main pump was not providing it any water, which then flows back into my sump). Last night i took it appart and cleared out the jam, and let it enter into the cycle again. Do you think this caused any stress to my reef?? Nothing appears to have been acting any different. I did have a heater in the fuge, i've only seen a small ph spike, which is great b/c its now 8.34
Also, i was frustrated with taking out overgrown algae from the fuge; it was a pain cutting it where i wanted to. (i should of used a decent pair of sicorrs) So i started to rip it out, causing the roots to get exposed
Is this a big no no or not such a big deal??
I currently have a clear piece of plastic holding them down to see if the roots will attach again...
Let me know what you guys think..

Algae doesn't have roots. What you're seeing are just holdfasts and it doesn't matter if they are exposed or not.
