bangaii cardinal having babies

I have a 75 gallon tank.
My male cardinal fish is on day 24 of carrying the young.
Ive been in contact with my local fish store (lfs).
My tank contains
2-percula misbar clowns
1-Peach midas blenny
1-Canary blenny
1-Diamond Goby
1-purple Psuedo chromis
1-pencil urchin and of course
2-bangaii cardinals
and several coral and 1 rose anemone.
Within last week I set up a 10 gallon tank by taking out 10 gals of my main tank water.
I cannot seem to catch the male cardinal and wonder if leaving him in the main tank will be ok or are the young fish doomed?
Thanks, Quentin

can you get a divider for the tank?? keeping the cardinal isolated but still in the same tank...protect the fry from any intakes

doomed....the fish will have a field day...you have to be very careful...if the male is spooked he may spit them out...ask Bang Guy...he breeds them and he would know the best route of getting him out....good luck

I think Bang guy said to try and catch them right after you turn your lights on. I could be wrong, but this is usually the best time. They are kind of dazed for a few minutes.

i caught him and he is in the breeders net along with about 12 fry. I have a 10 gallon tank but temperature is 76 on that while my main tank is 80. Im shaking right now. any suggestions as far as leaving in tank? or not? feeding young?
he appears to have more in his mouth.

The fry are safe for as long as he has more fry in his mouth. As soon as he spits all of them out he will be ravenous and will eat anything, including the babies.
Try feeding the babies shaved frozen food, it needs to be tiny. If they don't eat the frozen food then start them on baby brine shrimp. The frozen food is best so try hard. Vacuum up any left over food quickly or add a few Bristle Worms to the grow out tank.
I use frozen prawn eggs for the best healthiest growth. Call around & see if any stores in your area have them. Oyster eggs will work but they are too small to use for more than a few days. Flying fish eggs are also a good food.

bang guy,
I do have an anemone in the tank. I just left it out earlier cause I could only post 500 characters or less

Gotcha.
The Anemone can house 2 or 3 baby Banggai. You'll have a lot more success doing it the way you are doing it now.
Is there something you can put in the 10 that the babies can hide in? A handful of algae, a stack of eggcrate, pile of zip ties, whatever. I like to keep them in the breeder for a few days because it's easier to get them trained to eat frozen food.
There is a way to remove the fry from the males mouth but it can be risky so I'd rather you not try that.

i got some rock in the 10 gallon tank but do i put the male and all of the babies in that tank? I just checked the numbers and everything looks good, calicum is a little low.
What about the temperature difference? 4 degree difference in main to 10 gal.

Anything around 80F will be fine.
