I just got two...1" and 2.5". 1"-- I have seen eat, 2.5"---breathing heavier and haven't seen eat. I have read that it takes these guys a little longer to get adjusted, than other fish. Is this true? Will my fish be ok?

Sometimes WC Banggai never learn to eat dead food. Sometimes they have internal parasites. Lately the odds of keeping a WC Banggai more then a month have been a disaster.
Hopefully yours will respond to food very soon. They can go a long time without food and they usually don't eat until they settle in.

I bought a Banggai on Sat. from Inland Ocean in Lafayette (do you know it Bang?). Just found it. Seems like a great place, lady was very knowledgeable. She said she doesn't let anything leave until she has switched the fish off of live food to either frozen or flake (sounded good to me). Sunday night the Banggai seemed to be breathing hard, not sure if it was eating the frozen brine shrimp, and had a "string" hanging from it. Came home from work on Monday night and it was dead. I'm assuming it was an internal parasite.

Well the funny thing is that I saw it eat brine shrimp at the LFS. He fed it frozen Brine while I was there.

You can add me to the list of lost Bangaii. I lost a couple of them and then decided to leave them alone. I hate losing fish and having something die in my care. So, now I am trying to stick with some easier fish and be patient. I have my whole life for Bangaii's. They are very cool fish though.

If you find Tank Bred Banggai in your area then go for it. These fish are not thriving in the wild and IMO should no longer be imported.

I talked to my LFS about this and he said he'd never heard of Banggai being tank bred. Doh. Is this something done commercially or is it mostly dedicated hobbyists like Bang only? I've been looking around and have yet to fin d even an online store that has tank bred Banggais

Its truly a shame, they're beautiful fish. Hey Bang, one of the pair looks ok, but the other, bigger one looks not so good. Is there something I can do or should I remove him? Will he get ick if I leave him in there?
