If this fish is even half as dumb as it looks; you'd have to force-feed it. Visual proof of what I said earlier; its so in-bred, it wouldn't even know it was being kept in tight quarters.

Most full grown flowerhorns are only 40 bucks or so, so when someone says 800 I'm curious...
Curious about what? I don't even know much about FW fish, all I know is the outrageous price.

Maybe they labeled it wrong? Because it looked like EL GUAPO's picture but with less of a bump on its head.

I don't believe or disbelieve you . I am saying I wouldn't pay 800 dollars for that ugly thing . It looks like an infected apendige .

I just want to know what an 800 dollar flowerhorn looks like! They can get pretty expensive.

But you don't believe me...

I'm not a troll, I wouldn't make it up.

It looked bigger than the one in EL GUAPO's picture, but it was orange and white. Maybe I can try and sneak a picture whenever we go to the LFS next time.
Here, it looks like this! Golden Emperor Flowerhorn.

Show quality usually means something like
By some groups standards it fits the description of what a perfect (flower horn) would look like . Color size shape health / No visible defects in the scales or color no missing fins or deformity

No I believed you to begin I've heard those fish get really expensive, but I'd never seen one or how expensive.

What do they mean by 'show quality' ?
It has to do with size and quality of the specimen. basically what crash said.

the big "horn" is ugly. i had one that looked pretty much like that with less of the horn. they are mean fish and grow very fast. i liked mine, they are high dollar fish. i sold mine for 200 and the guy didnt even blink when i told him what i wanted for it. and im sure he left and sold it for lots more than 800. 800 is probably a good price as im sure the best looking and big ones sell in the 1000's

I never understood it, I've wanted for a while to setup up a formosa tank. Get them breeding, because it doesn't take too long, but long enough where most people don't even bother. Unfortunately I don't have the room right now. But some day.

I never understood the price of koi either, however I do think they are pretty in the ponds and stuff. I had an uncle that was into that, and would drop 3 grand on a fish that you can't even really see because the water was a bit murky. I do think it would be awesome to build a sunroom, and have a sw pond instead of a koi pond.
