I've about got all the blackberries picked out of my yard so I jumped in the truck and drove in the back-side of a friends property and found some really good berries, usually I don't bother picking himilayans, but I found a bunch that where absolutely perfect and about half the size of your thumb so the bucket fills up fairly fast, we also have another non-native blackberry that is a little harder to find, but I found some of those too that where looking good. Pretty relaxing day spending the morning picking berries with only my friends dog and cat to keep me company and I ended up with about 10-12lbs of berries in just a couple of hours.
Anybody else been out picking berries this summer? Seems like fewer and fewer people are willing to make the effort anymore.
Next thing to get picked will be my hops and then into the fruit dryer and sealed up, that will probably be on saturday.
I'm shooting for about 40 lbs of berries this year, so far I am about half-way towards my goal.
