This has nothing to do with Cowboys and more to do with who is the better receiver as whole. I will argue Rice, Irvin, Carter, Swann, Monk, Largent and a slew of other receivers were more valuable to their team than Moss was and is. Thus making them better receivers as a whole.
agreed...
Moss' stats speak for themselves... but like Darth has stated the guy just isnt the "whole package"... if not for TO's antics and missing several games i would put him in a class above Moss... still would... L Fitz and Bolden are superior WRs than Moss... heck id even say Andre Johnson is too...

Johnson and TO don't make this list for me, just because they have a habit of dropping the ball at the wrong time.....Were it not for that TO would be a far better WR than moss....I have actually seen him level guys blocking for a RB....

Probably because TO can out-bench Moss by least 75lbs....

No, just saying why you've seen TO level a guy, and Moss not. Moss admitted to taking plays off before, so there's not much to say other then he's changed now...

Moss really cleaned up his act when he was with the Raiders of all teams

It is hard to pick out a dominating player in football because they are so dependent on their team mates to make it happen at most positions. I would say looking at things like receiving yards after the catch would be the best measure of a receiver.

Oooowww, oddball sports. If that's the case, Michael Schumacher, undoubtedly has to be mentioned.

7 champions in 10 years (should have been 8), 91 wins in 249 starts. That is unparalleled.... In any sport....
Not quite. Schumacher is great but I have to go with Valentino Rossi in MotoGP. 8 Grand Prix World Championships heading for 9 this year. 103 wins in 223 starts with 161 podium finishes.
What is funny is they each dabble in the others sport. Rossi has tried out a few F1 cars and rumors keep rising that he will go race formula 1 and Schumacher has competed in some Motorcycle races and does quite well.

Or, another way you can look at it, if there was a Hall of Fame for all sports, who would be the first one in?
Jordan? Gretzky? Muhammad Ali? Jacky Rob? Babe?
Roy Munson.

True, but it's hard to say what would have happened in 2005 if there wasn't the retarded tire rule, that eliminated any team running Bridgestones.
And yea, Schumacher could have been back in F1 too replacing Massa, if he didn't hurt his neck in GP.
But then of course, there's always Brute Force. 14 NHRA champions in 17 years, 15 if you count 2003, when Pedregon won driving for Force...

How many funny car championships did John force win in a row, like 14?
90, 91, 93-02, 04, 06. 14 total.
In 03' the car he owns, driver Tony Pedregon won, so if you count that one, 12 in a row, if not 10...
Not shabby for a kid from a trailer park who had polio as a child....

Roger Federer.
I love Fed, but he can't be considered the greatest in any sport when he has been dominated by Rafa Nadal (the number 2 in his own sport)....Rafa owns him.

Jordan. No one else completely dominated an entire team sport the way he did. Altough, wih the first two San Francisco Super Bowls, it could be argued Montana was the 49ers. Craig was good, but Montana almost willed San Fran to win.
Jordan was good, but I'm surprised. No one has mentioned Tiger. I think he is the perfect athlete. Blown through the record books. Can win from behind. And golf requires the finest skill set out there. Makes it even more impressive.
That being said, I think the greatest sports player out there was the Babe. Imagine someone walking in and hitting more home runs in a season, then half the teams did. And don't forget he was the best pitcher in baseball for the first few years of his career.
He more than anyone completely changed the way their sport was played.

as much as i hate him and hate to admit it... M Irvin was in the same league and he did change the game, they also changed the rules because of him... he was the first of the big receivers to really dominate at the WR position... Moss isnt in the HOF yet and is LAZY... dude takes practically every play off that the ball isnt going to him... and Jerry Rice... well nuff said...
good to see you too man!!!

Michael Irvin played in a very balanced offense his entire career. Plus his first 3 years playing for an absolutely horrible team. Stick Irvin into Moss's career, I think you have a comparable career numbers. Plus think about the 90's Cowboy's offense. Inside the 20 it was Emmit time. Emmit had a 25 touchdown season. That is just how they played the game. Now does either player deserve to be mentioned in the greatest player, not at all. I don't even think they deserve to be in a greatest receiver of all time discussion.
IMO using Michael's stats against him, would be like using Aikman's stats against him.

To be honest, I think there are only 2 athletes that fit the bill of greatest of all-time. The measurement I use to come by this is popularity and noteriety around the world. Only two people come to mind. Jordan and Tiger. I guarantee they are more recognizable around the world than anyone else....You could drop them in a Tibetian temple and the monks would know them.....
I don't know anyone else that has brought their respective sport to a global level of recognition.
I could pass half the guys you listed on the street and might not recognize them unless I ws paying attention...tiger and Jordan are known and recognized globally....

Did anyone watch or hear MJ's induction speech? Most have said it was sort of mean sprited.. I thought so too, till I heard Jim Rome today, eerr yesterday... Yes, as much as I think Jim Rome is perhaps the biggest toolbag on the planet (edging out Joe Buck), but he absolutely got his remark on MJ 100% correct.
MJ was thee alpha male on the court. Everything that was done on the Bulls was because MJ said so. That's why MJ/Brett Farve/etc just can retire. They are the alpha males, that just can't stand to come to the realization that they aren't "The Man" anymore. Jordan's speech wasn't celebration, it was a funeral procession. A chunk of MJ died Friday....

Really petty speech it seemed to me, ripping on Byron Russell, his high school Basketball coach, Isiah Thomas, George Gervin...HOF induction speech really isn't the right forum for that.
On another subject, I understand you guys are Cowboy fans, but please stop comparing Michael Irvin to Randy Moss, it's embarrassing. Quit trying to make excuses for why his stats are so inferior to Moss. AGAIN, Michael Irvin is a deserved HOFer, but Randy Moss is a completely different level of athelete. Just ask yourself this, if Randy Moss and Michael Irvin are teammates in their prime, who gets the double team? If you think Irvin, you know nothing about football.

As far as Tiger, Paul Goydos said this about Tiger.
"We live in the era of Tiger Woods, who makes winning look ridiculously easy. The more I think about it, the more I feel Tiger Woods is the most underrated player on this tour. You guys have no concept of what he accomplishes on a weekly basis when he plays. It's ridiculous how good he plays.''
Beating the 120 best golfers in the world week in and week out in a game as precise as golf is truly remarkable.
