Every time I've ever been there I've either camped at the park or stayed with my friends, so I dont have any recomendations on hotels. Watkins is on the south end of Seneca Lake, one of the Finger Lakes. If you head north along the lake there are a lot of wineries if you're into that, and then leading up to the town of Geneva, which is a cool little town. If you head to the next lake further east, Cayuga Lake, at the southern tip, in Ithaca is another beautiful park called Buttermilk Falls State Park, which is also a great place to visit. Corning, NY is another cool town in the area, a little bit south of Watkins. Its home to the original Corning glass company and there are a lot of cool glass blowing shops where you can watch artisans at work making glassware
