So I am trying to find a good campground in the keys and so far I have found 2 KOA's. One in sugarloaf and the other I cannot remember. If you know of any other family friendly campgrounds, please lemme know. The yellow pages list a million of them, but I have hard time trusting what I have never seen.
Thanks much...

I put a call into her. Bahia Honda sounds like it though. They like it because they have seperate areas for RV, Pop ups and tents. Cabins also. BUT the downside from what I remember is trying to get in. Its not easy, But if you have dates set, you can poke around the sights to see availablity.

It didn't matter where, in the keys. I was just wondering of a good campsight. So you guys are recomending John Pennekamp huh?? I am looking into it, and the hubby's game so I appreciate it much!!
I gotta call them tomorow for a campsight map to know which sight to reserve...unless you guys have any experience, I will trust your judgement.

Pennekamp is cool becuase of the access to the reef. If you are really interested in that, that would be the place to be. Don't know if they have campsites.
It just depends on what you want to do. If you really want a water holiday, or a party holiday, etc.

John Pennekamp does tents, but
Love, Bahia Honda looks like an RV park, do you know if THEY do tents also?? Says it's an RV marina. I don't have an RV OR a boat, LOL... I will call for more info, if your sis in law keeps going back then I will assume it's nice and consider it!!
So, I've narrowed it down to 3.
Normally I go to a local lake. It's a big lake but a lake nonetheless. swimming, campfires, bath-houses, that's it, I'm a simple girl. Oh and preferably a pool. I like having some fresh water to dip into every now and again.

She said there was tent camping (they have a pop up)
here is what I found on their site.
Full Facility Camping
There are 3 different campgrounds in the park. Reservations may be made up to 11 months in advance, the sites book quickly so make your plans well in advance. For reservations, please call Reserve America at 1-800-326-3521 or online at www.reserveamerica.com Buttonwood- (#1 - #48) This campground can accommodate a variety of camping rigs from a large RV to a small tent. The sites are more suitable for an RV or pop-up because they are gravel. The Buttonwood sites have very little shade and are the largest sites in the park. They all have electricity, water, a picnic table and grill. There is also a bathhouse with hot showers and a dump station for sewage. The waterfront sites in this area are #12 - #25, but keep in mind #12 and #13 are by the boat docks and #14 is on the channel coming into the boat docks. Sandspur- (#49 - #72) These sites are the most beautiful in the park but are very small and have low clearance. They are located in a very rare habitat called a hardwood hammock. Tents can fit on all of these sites and a few sites will accommodate small pop-ups. RVs are not permitted in this area, the sites are much too small. All of these sites have a picnic table, grill and water, #57 - #72 also have electricity. The waterfront sites in this area are #64 - #72. Bayside- (#73 - #80) This campground is the smallest with only 8 sites and no electricity. Bayside campground has a vehicle height restriction, like the cabins, of 6 feet 8 inches. Your vehicle has to be able to go under the New Bahia Honda Bridge. The sites have a picnic table, grill and water. There is a small bathhouse nearby with outside cold showers and no electricity. You are welcome to use the large bathhouse in the Buttonwood campground that is one-half mile away.
here is where I found it. It looks like you can play around with the "availibility" button for sites. Scroll down to Full Faciitiy Camping

My sis in law goes to Henderson Beach state park...the link way above. Its on the east side of Destin. I just showed you that because I knew they loved it.
A friend of mine goes to Bahia Honda and this past year switched to Sunshine because Bahia Honda was full. They really enjoyed that park too.
