Sunshine Key is nice, surrounded by the ocean, large RV park. Its a few miles from Bahia Honda.
The closest small town is Big Pine Key, where you can get some groceries. It is a tad remote, but civilization not too far away.
I'd rather stay at Sunshine Key than Bahia Honda....Bahia is great for day visits. You better take some serious sunblock with you.

But, come to think of it....don't know how much damage they took due to storm. That was the worse storm that hit the lower keys since I've been around!

Well, all I have is a tent. No RV and for me the more damge, the better. It feels like real camping. The hubby on the other hand will not be to happy if the showers don't work. When we go camping at the local lake, he goes home every single day for a shower!! An hour drive!! AND the campgrounds HAVE bathhouses that are clean. He's just a wierdo. Strange we paired up.
Now that you mention it though, I think I checked out sunshine key...little island? I think it's outa commission for a while. Yeah, they said the only way to the place was a small boat or kayak, which I don't have them either...

Sunshine Key??? Thats the place my girlfriend stayed this xmas. It was up and running.
Bahia Honda is the one that scheduled re open I think in February.
Beth is right about Bahia Honda, she also said there is hardly ANY cover and if any of the campsigts do have trees, they are snatched up.

No, its right on US1 and you can drive right in. I don't know if they can accommodate tents. Don't know about hurricane damage either. I believe they have pools, baths, etc.
