big mouth flattish brown snail without a shell sea slug looking thing?

came out of a new rock i just added, didnt know it was there until I turned on the light and saw it move quickly back to its lair. I tried to get his picture but he was a quick little dude. about an inch and a half long with 2 eyes and im not sure what he is?

Without pictures it's hard to tell, slugs are not quick...from what you discribed, maybe an isopod.

Sounds to me like some type of Bubble Snail. I would need a more detailed description or a picture to positively ID. It's too long to be a Stomatella varians.

no legs so def not isopod, it is a gastropod of some type. when I described it to the guy at my lfs he said it was a type of snail that has a flat shell. I have not seen him all week so no pic attempt yet but I do have my camera by the tank at the ready.

The type of snail that has a flat shell is a Stomatella. I do not believe they get to 1.5". I suppose anything's possible.

Good call Bangguy it is most def a stomatella. I may have been off a bit on size...when I saw it it was brief and he quickly disappeared. Actually havent seen him since.

Had you said 3/4" or even 1" Stomatella would have been at the top of my guess list.
They are perhaps one of the most useful snails for diatom control.
