Bummer!. It always sucks to hear of a tank crash!
Strontium.. My understandings... The initial study that showed that hard corals will use strontium to build their skeleton WHEN CALCIUM AND MAGNESIUM WERE NOT AVAILABLE. Before the second study was completed, a hot shot author or 2, wrote that strontium is an essential element to coral growth. Everyone jumped on the band wagon.. The second study showed that if the CA and MAG were there, the strontium was not used and actually considered to be like a poison.
Iodine: We already know that it is an antiseptic. We have no proof that any corals actually use/need it. We know that above .oo6 PPM it is also a poison (especially to the micro inverts that some of us rely on to keep our systems functioning properly). We know that Iodine cannot be properly tested for. Especially with the kits available to us. We know that most foods have iodine. We know the salts have iodine.
If your doing regular water changes with a good salt, you should never need any of these trace elements. Save your money for more salt, or for more corals, or more food.
