do black false perc's start out orange and gradually get their black coloring? I bought to a couple of weeks ago and 1 especially is getting blacker by the day.

yes... typically a rusty orange fade to black, as they mature they will turn completly black with an orange face, then when they hit adulthood they will be completly black.

Wow, I didn't know that. I was thinking of getting a black clown for my Nano Tank, so this is good info to know.

Can we see a picture of your clown?

another questions somewhat on topic. i no that they are the same species as normal ocellaris, so they can mate, but will they pair up (or at least not kill each other) if you put one of each in a tank.

sorry i couldn't get a pic (don't have the best camera and the fish are to small) but i am pretty sure it is slowly changing or the fish is pigmentally messed up......forgot to tell you the best thing i picked them up as regular false percs at an opening of a LFS for 6 bucks a peice
