blood fin anthias

i have a fish in quarantine,the lfs said it is a blood fin anthias.it is purple and white with looks like a spot of blood its side fins.its anal fin is yellow.does anybody have any info on this fish.

Dont think ive ever heard of a blood fin anthias. I think you lfs ripped you off. Blood spots on fish usually indicate that it has a bacterial infection. Look in the disease and treatment forums to see if that blood spot on your fish matches the discription

no it is definitaly not a infection it looks kike a blood drop and it is on both fins.it is a really beauitful fish.

try to post a pic, i went through my book and did not see anything that look like that....

Only anthias that has a small spot near the fins that I know of is the lyretail. A pic would really help out. Glad to see its not an infection :joy:

i think you are right it looks like a jewel lyretail.i went on fish index and the first picture looks like the fish.i will try to post a picture tonight.i couldnt post it ,the picture exceeded the bandwith.my picture was 1200x1000 .the site allows 500x500.thanks for the replies.

Just resize it. Pull it up on paint and go to image and sketch and skew and resize it. Check your attributes and itll tell you if its below 500x500

It looks an aweful lot like a male Pseudanthias squamipinnis. It's one of the hardier Anthias to care for.

my marine book gives that fish 3 names lyretail, scalefin and jeweled anthias(Pseudanthias squamipnnis)only thing im seeing different is the long spine fin on the dorsol.the females lack this spine fin and are bright orange.I have the female lyretail
this is the female .I had a trio 1 male 2 females but something is eating my small fish.at least what ever it is it has good taste cus it wont eat my stupid damsel
