80 watts of what? That is a weird number.
Don't do SPS until you've been reefing for at least a year. Water quality is so important and you need experience maintaining it on top of the knowledge: both of which take some time.

NOW you'll have TONS more time to work on you tank! You'll love rotations compared to your first 2 yrs.

I'm staying around home in WV at WVU doing the traditionaly rotating internship through fam med. I then hope to stay there for anesthesia.

Yeah, I definitely think so. The first two years was filled with so much garbage that is not remotely practical or clinical and I am a hands on learner and can't wait to dig in.

Good luck on anesthesia! It is a very competitive field here in Philly!

You may be able to keep Montipora sp. or a bird's nest if the coral was directly underneath the 50/50 PC (less than six inches away). I would not try it though. The coverage of two PC lamps would be much better or a few T5s.
If you go with T5 get a four lamp fixture (4 x 24 watt) or if you decide to go with PCs get a two lamp fixture (2 x 65 watt). I think the second one you listed would be sweet; you would be able to keep anything you wanted in a 20 long with that T5 fixture.
